Are the Caps back? I can't bring myself to believe it, but they are putting things together.
If we win tomorrow, then maybe. Even with the win tonight, just 2 spots out of last place.
I think it's kind of unrespectful- Ovie
I was sold after the fla sweep...this offense is clicking and I love it.
But with the league so tight, they're also now only 4 points out of the last playoff spot, and with a game in hand vs TB so if they beat PHI tomorrow it's only 2 points out of the last spot. lol.
The biggest positive right now is that our division is terrible. Teams in our division would barely be making the playoffs in either of the other Eastern division.
We aren't far back but its hard to leapfrog so many teams when they are all only playing in-conference. We need to win our division games in regulation and hope teams don't earn too many OT loser points.
Up to 19% chance to make the playoffs
What are the chances the Washington will make the playoffs, and which games matter.
Scored some silly seats from a buddy's work for last night's game. That was pure domination. Erskine is such a boss and Holtby just cruises in games like that. If we can stay out of the box going forward, which has been a huge problem, we are a playoff lock. Everything looks to be clicking.
Wow, I was sure wrong about that! Maybe there is something to Hogie's reverse jinx madness...
Semin looked like lazy, disinterested Semin most of the game last night. I spent an unhealthy amount of time just watching him when he was on the ice. Would have preferred the whoop cat call to the booing but the crowd got its point across. I was down low during warm-ups and there was a spot right by the Carolina tunnel. There was some chick with a "Mrs. Semin" jersey and when I made the whooping sound as he came off she just shot me a dirty look like I just committed some criminal offense. I told her to get used to it.
Last night's game was actually fun to watch. It's been a while since I can remember saying that.
Who is starting in net for both teams tonight?
Not sure for Philly yet, assuming Bryz.
Caps will start Holtby. Neuvirth is ill so Caps have called up Phillip Grubbauer from Hershey to back up Holtby tonight.
Edit: Leftwinglock.com says Bryz starts tonight for Philly. They are generally reliable for starting goalie info.

Still plenty of games left if this type of play can keep up. I think this can be a very dangerous team in the playoffs (making it is another story).
was that carlson who completely whiffed on that clearing attempt? good lord
Saw this had been posted in the NHL thread too. I take it Mike Milbury is not a fan of Ovie.
Milbury is a complete clown but it's hard to argue with a lot of that.
The best part if Keith Jones' just off the cuff "Backstrom's already playing like this anyways"
The beat writers love to dissect what he's saying about Ovechkin and write it off as Milbury being Milbury, but this has ALWAYS been the story with Ovechkin. I don't know how anyone can claim the guy hasn't spent virtually his entire career coasting around at half effort in the defensive end and camping out away from the goal on offense. It's like everyone confuses the manic one man rushes down the wing with effort over the course of an entire game.
People have been screaming that he needs to be "more like Crosby" and crash the net for as long as I can remember now. This isn't something that is new to his game.
He had a bad game last night and the same coasting issues are there but I've been very pleased with his play the last two weeks.
Mike Milbury resume cliff notes...
Coaching record: 146-160-45.
-drafted Rick DiPeitro #1 overall.
-Traded Zdeno Chara, Bill Muckalt, & 1st Round Selection (Jason Spezza) for Alexei Yashin . Yashin blew for the Isalnders and was later bought out.
- Also Yashin related. Signed Alexei Yashin to 10 Year, $90M Contract. Aforementioned buyout will be paid all the way through 2014/2015.
- Traded Bryan McCabe, Todd Bertuzzi, & 3rd Round Selection (Jarko Ruutu) for Trevor Linden
Traded Olli Jokinen & Roberto Luongo for Mark Parrish and Oleg Kvasha
Basically Vinny Cerrato if he hated foreign players.
Didn't he give DiPietro the 15 year deal too?
I don't remember if that one was on his watch, or if he had already been fired for Smith at that point.
Good question. I'm sure an Isles fan would be in the know.
CHICAGO (AP) -- Struggling online deals pioneer Groupon said Thursday it ousted CEO Andrew Mason and will look for a new chief.
Executive Chairman Eric Lefkofsky and Vice Chairman Ted Leonsis were appointed to the Office of the Chief Executive while a replacement is found.
Prime opportunity for GMGM to do something moronic and Ted not hold him accountable yet again.
Another Leonsis winner!
3 OT games in the East last night. It's just impossible to climb in the standings with everyone above else above you racking up points playing each other.
Well, he does have a lot of hair.
