Not yet. All reports are Army is not interested. Adding those 5 brings them to 10 so there's still room for Navy and AF.

They better get Navy & Air Force, otherwise without the political angle with the academies there's going to be no reason for the BCS not to kick them out.

BCS AQ status is nothing but cachet for mediocre conferences anyway. It's not really a lot of money (compared to tv rights) and the best fb conferences don't worry about AQ bids. I'll be glad when/if the BCS bowls are gone and the "BCS" is only about 1 vs 2. Of course, a playoff beats all.
Get a good regional conference that can garner a good tv deal. Don't go annexing schools in Laos and Poland just to make your football profile seem better than it really is. I'd love for this to blow up in their faces.

how have people not learned yet that tv money is the driver in this? boise and sdsu stand to come out a lot better in this regardless of what happens with the bcs. the mountain west's tv is worse than a joke.

So Houston, SMU and UCF are joining for basketball? Hardly a replacement for Pitt, WVU and Cuse. this might drive Notre Dame to the ACC. Defiantely waters down the basketball.

I feel like Nevada would have made more sense than SDSU, but was never mentioned after talks with BYU died. Reno is closer to Boise and the Wolfpack add more to the ranking. Plus the coach that made them successful is still coaching there.
I guess the Big East wanted to "claim" SD market and the slim possibility of recruiting Southern California.

I guess it probably was Boise's call. If they didn't care about having a regional rival or one cheap road trip, SDSU offers more than Nevada.

There are 10 schools in the Big12 and 12 schools in the Big10. Marquette and Depaul have been in the Big East for years (is it 7 now?). Conference Names don't need to make sense anymore, but...
The New Big East will be the only conference with schools in all 4 time zones. Maybe there is a new name in that.

the funniest thing is that san diego state might be in both the big east and the big west.

UConn being stuck in the BoD conference makes me happy.
Their home basketball schedule getting watered down with the likes of Houston, UCF and SMU instead of Syracuse and Pitt is going to kill their attendance.

San Diego State told that it Big East TV money to be at least $6.4m annually, compared to $1.5m in MW
San Diego State also received assurances of up to 4 Big East games in basketball
