Baltimore Ravens are Maryland's team

  • None of this explains why the Ravens' fans are so jealous.

Anyone that jumped ship on the Ravens if they switched from Baltimore to Maryland is an even bigger moron than you.

LOL, you calling someone a moron is like Shane Battier calling someone a flopper. RawDogg, learn what the word jealous means and then figure out why it couldn't possibly apply here...thanks.

I got the shotgun. You got the briefcase. It's all in the game though, right?

  • this is why real sports cities have four teams and four teams only that all play in the city limits and dont share turf with anyone

i cant imagine my neighbor being a dallas pittsburgh or giants fan or sharing a county with another city

the worst tho is for the baltimore fans that root for the caps or bullets....you root for the city dummies not the teams

That makes no sense, There are no other options for NBA or NHL fans in Baltimore, so it just makes sense that many people there are fans of the closest NBA and NHL. Moreover, the Wizards have their roots in Baltimore, so there is a connection there, as well.

Your argument is like saying it was wrong for baseball fans in D.C. to root for the Orioles all those years between the Senators and the Nats.

to each his own...but i will never understand that concept....you root for baltimore you dont root for the orioles or the ravens

I'm pretty sure someone said MoCo had more Ravens fans. Every team in the NFC East has more fans there than the 'vens.

Don't call them the 'vens. Ever.

  • So people in Columbus, OH can't be fans of the other Ohio teams if they root for the Blue Jackets. Got it.

if you live in MA i guess its a little different...but if you grew up in a city then its absolutely reprehensible to root for a city other than your own

Columbus is the 15th largest city in the country.

I will have to defer to the expert here, given that you almost singlehandedly put the moron in Baltimoron.

I doubt very many people on here actually grew up within the city limits of either DC or Baltimore.

yeah and jacksonville is in the top ten i think....places like this are not "cities"

all you need to do to be "big" is extend your city limits out into your outlying counties...imagine baltimore counting everything out to bel air as city

thus i suppose someone from columbus can root for the browns or bengals....but no one from cincy should ever rot for the cavs

DC/Baltimore have some serious overlap though. If you grew up in the Columbia area, you are really being pulled in both directions. I think it is part of the reason why people from that area are so emotionally unstable.

I don't know much about the pro sports landscape in PA, but I'm sure there are plenty of counties in the middle of the state that are split between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.

Even if the Redskins played in DC and Baltimore had NBA and NHL teams, that wouldn't cause these arguments to stop. DC and Baltimore are too close for them not to go on.

You should allow it because they have no team of their own. Like I said before, if you love a sport and your hometown doesn't have a team in that sport, there is nothing wrong with being a fan of the closest franchise.

However, I do agree with those who say it's wrong to root for another team if you grow up in an area that does have a team. I'm looking at you, P.G. County Cowboy fans.

not really....west of philly (once you get outside its suburbs) is generally all pittsburgh northeast part of the state is philly...cept the steelers...they are everywhere...but if you live in pennsyltucky go ahead and root for whoever you want....im not suggesting that you can only root for the scranton wilkes barre penguins

im saying if you grew up in a big city thats who you root for.....period

you dont need to grow up in the city limits...i didnt mean that literally...if you grew up in rockville tho you should be reppin dc to the fullest

but maybe heads arent like that around there.....i mean if im around the country and meet someone who says they are from philly the next question is always where...and the where could be south jersey or a pennsy suburb...but everyone will always say philly

point is if you are from a DC suburb then your allegiance imo should be to dc...you shouldnt root for baltimore...ever

thinking about it tho it may be different down there because dont va and md dislike each other....whereas south jerz and pennsylvania suburbs are united by the city...so its not like people in the dc area are rallying together around washington

This is so profoundly stupid it merits closer examination. There are literally TWO cities that fit your asinine arbitrary criteria. So, Philadelphia and Denver are the only "real sports cities", unlike...

    - Boston (Patriots play outside city limits)
    - Chicago (more than four teams)
    - New York (more than four teams, Jets/Giants play outside city)
    - Detroit (Pistons play outside city)
    - D.C. (Redskins play outside city)
    - Dallas (Rangers/Cowboys play outside city)
    - Miami (Dolphins/Panthers play outside city)
    - Phoenix (Cardinals/Coyotes play outside city)

more than four team cities are completely unacceptable....you should not like a different team than your neighbor

having teams outside your city is not a good thing but its a fact of life...i would hate it if it was me and its not ideal but in general im ok with it

Apparently Philly is the only real sports city in America. It's a shame they've only won one combined title in the last 29 years then.

Back to reality though, I also live in Philly. There are plenty of Steelers fans around here. In fact, I know a bunch of my neighbors down here at 12th and Christian and I don't know a single one of them that roots solely for Philly teams. Hate to break it to you, but sports fans are the same here as they are anywhere else.
