The irony of all of this is the fact that, for decades under Paterno, UPS, and their dilusional fans, held themselves up as the squeaky clean, epitome of a properly run program. They were the "anti-Miami." when the Canes wore fatigues, the Penn State players wore suits and ties when they traveled. It was all the way college athletics should be and it all started at the top, with Joe Pa.

of course PSU signed that. the last thing they need is something else dragging on. when the civil suits get to the penalty phases they are going to need to show that they have made changes, accepted responsibility. maybe they will only lose a billion instead of two.

the 60 million number is pennies compared to what is coming down the road. this program made ( if we take the 60 million a year number ) over 700 million dollars in revenue since 1998 when they decided that turning in a pedophile could hamper that number etc. i am sure a judge and jury is going to start giving out a lot of that money to the victims.

You know, this is the thing that burns me the most about this whole scandal. Rank the following in terms of long term negative effect on their respective football programs:

1. SMU "death penalty"
2. PSU sanctions
3. The hiring of Kevin Anderson/Randy Edsall

We got the bowl ban and the fine (in terms of Edsall's guaranteed salary). Only difference between MD and PSU is we get to keep our scholarships, oh and the fact our program didn't coverup any heinous crimes for decades, or commit any crimes at all for that matter
