My lines for the first game assuming Nicky's out.
OV-Ribeiro-Wolski
Mojo-Perreault-Brouwer
Chimera-Laich-Ward
Hendricks-Crabb-Beagle
Carlson-Alzner
Hamrlik-Green
Hillen-Schultz
Holtby
Neuvirth
I could see flipping Chimera or Laich to the 2nd line to avoid how weak and small it is but I like having a legit 3rd line and a defined second scoring line even if it's soft and really not even that good, welp.

Mostly necessity and skill set, he's generally a brainless turd who can't play defense and since we have no scoring depth might as well give him a run with ov. he's got the skills to be a good offensive player but it's not likely. Homeless mans Semin sort of

Don't know much about him other than he's small ish and more of a puck mover than a stay at home guy. He's a 6/7 dman making 600k. He'll be good depth i think. Much better than someone like tyler sloan

I know I am in the minority but I really didn't want Semin to go. Would have loved to see him play under Oates to see if he could produce the way he can and playing with Ribeiro would have been a benefit to both of them. Nicky is the key. If he is healthy maybe this team can surprise us. If not, who knows what will happen.

I kind of agree with you, as it leaves us with a huge secondary scoring hole, but we wouldn't have been able to fit his $7mil under the cap with the rest of the team as its constructed. We would have had to make a tough choice somewhere else (Green, Carlson, Brouwer, not trading for Ribeiro, etc). One thing worth noting: we have $6.6 mil free on the cap right now, and could make a move for a scoring winger towards the deadline if we deem the Wolski experiment a bust. And with a decent bit of space available for next year, depending on what we want to do with the other players up for free agency, we could even afford to take on a player with an extra year left on their deal, if a team needs to dump salary.
