Unemployment down to 8.3%. Good for the market, but the POTUS race is now officially over.

he's either running against a hairdo from a liberal state or a fat crazy who hasn't been politically relevant in over 10 years. He gets unemployment (meaningless stat as it is) under 8% and it's a lock.

Lowest labor participation rate in 20 years. That unemployment number is nothing more than a nice headline.

I'd dump whoever gave you this advice. If you want to be in water, ECL, FLS, and WTS are all better to me.

AAPL just cracked $500 - it's up about $60 in the last two weeks. Unreal. If they hit the Ipad 3 out of the park when they announce it in a few weeks it's going to surge even more.

The PE is only 14, they're still growing like crazy and have an amazing balance sheet. Really just a terrific stock.

Time to be careful on AAPL now. Nasdaq has a rule that if any stock makes up 24% or more of the NDQ 100 that it means a rebalance. APPL is right around 20-22%, and if they rebalance institutions will be selling.

AAPL possible blow off top intraday yesterday. I sold. Will wait to see how it digests this run before getting back in.

Lots of index mutual funds. Managers try to mimic the index performance as much as possible. If the weighting of AAPL goes down, mangers have to sell and buy whatever comes in or goes up in percentage to ensure accurate tracking.

ahh, makes sense, thanks. I'm a dabbler, and my methodology would probably horrify you as I am a total noob about stuff like that. Always interested in learnign though. Thanks!

The one thing you don't want to do is underperform the index. The really big changes come when new companies get added to SP100 and 500. Those stocks see huge gains. Reblancing is relatively less, but in the case of AAPL would be significant.
The Dow is the only price weighted index and I don't think they ever rebalance it. They just adjust the divisor for stock splits, etc.

Put/Call ratio in the short term is overwhelmingly calls almost across the board. 128 open contracts in the May 575 puts, 2,832 in the calls.
