What's the angriest you've ever gotten? (sports related)

  • I have a lot of these, but the one that stands out the most was the St. John's loss in 1999.

I knew that was going to be a tough game going in, but watching such a great team go down in flames was just so maddening that I couldn't control myself.

I love that team so much and we all knew Francis was going pro. 28-win season down the drain because of that one stretch where we could not make a shot. I think we went like nine minutes without a bucket, which was just insane for that team to have a drought like that.

First I took my basketball and just launched it into my drywall as hard as I could from point-blank range and left about 5-foot hole in it, which I then tried to cover up with a life-size Cal Ripken cardboard cutout I had stolen from a video game store.

Then as it continued to spiral downward, I calmly went up to my VCR, ejected the tape I was taping the game on, opened the back door of my apartment and threw the tape about 100 feet into the middle of the parking lot.

The Clemson game was brutal too. I was still working in the athletic department then and used to use my credential to find a seat in the student section when I wasn't working the game. When we were up big I moved down and sat with Hogie. Then disaster happened and we were just stunned. I worked for the athletic department, so I couldn't really go crazy in the stands, so I walked back to my office and threw my chair into the hallway, went and picked it up and threw it back into my office and repeated that for like five minutes.

Then some random student worker from the game came up to make copies of something and started punching chairs too, since he couldn't act out either.

  • During the St. John's game my roommate took a coffee table full of drinks and tipped them out our 8th floor dorm window....answering for him because I don't think he posts here.

Im ready for aa 5th of vodica to end my feels.

  • Gone in 60, easily. Because there were stages of rage. The hilarious "foul" on Blake. The "foul" on Lonny. The epic raping fou...er, steal by Jay Williams on Nicholas. Then the dagger.

Part of me wishes there was a tape recorder there getting my minutes long string of profanity on the way out of Cole. Then I was in a stupor for about a week afterwards. A part of my soul died that day.

All I remember was cursing at everyone in ear shot to stop the stupid "overrated" chant. There was about 2 min. to go and things get hazy from then on.

  • Why are you people referring to it as "gone in 60" instead of "gone in 54"?

Yup, me too. All I could think was "too much time...too much time..."

Gone in 54 makes me want to cry. Gone in 60 makes me think "LOL Andy Samberg as Nic Cage."

  • I gotta break mine down by sports:

Lions: '97 playoff loss to Bucs (kicked a hole in the wall after a Scott Mitchell interception)

    Tigers: Game 163

Pistons : Game 7, 2005 NBA Finals. The franchise has never recovered, IMO.

Red Wings: '95 Cup Finals. Got swept by a JOKE of a franchise.

Terps B-Ball: Clemson loss in '08. I still wish bad things for Oglesby.

Terps F-ball: FSU loss in '08. Drove down to CP from Michigan to watch us shit the bed for four quarters.

I will now finish my bottle of Booker's. Thanks guys.

You know it is bad when you are already in the aisle ready to rush the court, and you have to return to your seat. :(

  • I get enraged every time the ravens or terps b-ball/football lose. My wife won't watch any games with me, I have to go to my buddies house on Sunday to watch the ravens.

    I have a problem.

We didn't score the last 9 minutes of the 1st half and St John's went on a 20-0 run.

BUT THANK YOU FOR REMINDING ME OF THAT ONE.

  • I just remembered the worst loss of my life -- Kordell Stewart beating Michigan. I was in high school, I think.

I took my baseball bat and went in the backyard and hit a tree for a few minutes. Then I went in the garage and just started smashing stuff. Pretty sure my dad was pissed as hell too, but my reaction made him worse and we yelled at each other for a bit. Not my finest hour at all.

  • For Gone in 60 I was at home very sick, so simply didn't have the energy to be too angry.
For Clemson/Oglesby it just felt like a huge kick in the stomach.
For the game no one is mentioning, I was just in shock/depressed.

Nope, the angriest I can recall getting after a game is the Villanova game in Philly last year where we blew the 15 pt lead in the second half. I was there in person, and I was kicking shit (not literally) in the restrooms after the game. Very random, I know, but that was it for me.

  • The Game That Shall Not Be Named is easy.

The Maryland Tease is full force. Watched the ball go in. Fell backwards, not saying a thing. Laying there for a few minutes. Parents and brother laughing at me, because they just don't get it. Walked into my bedroom and punched a section of my closet out.

    God damnit, I loved GV.

"It's just so hard," Greivis said. "It's my heart, my love. Maryland made me who I am."

  • MSU in 2010, I fell on my face just screaming "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!" repeatedly before falling into a deep depression that lasted a solid week. I still wish terrible things on Korie Lucious, Durrell Summers, and that fat f*** Draymond Green. I loved that Vasquez team, it wasn't their time to go.

Both Duke games in 01, obviously.

One that's not mentioned was losing to a garbage UVA football team 18-17 on homecoming after the refs screwed us on the spot and POS Mikell Simpson had the game of his life.
