bigturtle is a joke. If you respond to him with serious conversation, you too are a joke. I hope people haven't actually wasted time reading through this whole thread.

Message boards exist for people like bigturtle, and his counterparts on the other side to take an extreme view and ramble on about crap that makes both sides of any issue look bad. He (and those on the left that do the same thing) are what is wrong with this country. Ignore it.

T99 I rag on you so hard because either your the biggest fake on this board or you have zero self awareness. My vote is with the later. You are a walking, living breathing vote for Obama yet you want us all to think differently. Thus the lack of self awareness. You dont know what makes you tick.

BTW, as for that bigturtle article about "80% of green energy loans going to top Obama donors" ...in my mind, that's another example of somewhat legitimate criticisms being overshadowed by the partisan, stupid, and exaggerated manner in which such criticisms are made.

A lot of the entities on that list that received loans are public companies! 80% of all loans went to Obama's top donors?! Really? So if any executive of any public company donates to a particular administration, then any government contract with that public company is an example of crony capitalism?! Good to know!

Maybe once we're done rolling back any agreements with these green energy companies, we should cancel all US government contracts with companies like Lockheed Martin, Boeing, BAE, Northrup Grunman who have executives who donate to political parties. Down with crony capitalism! Disband the US military! LOL at that stupidity.

The agenda of pushing "green energy" as opposed to fossil fuels has underscored a lot of this deserved criticism of the administration. Loans to donors of ill fated companies versus postponed decisions costing jobs and resources in oil and gas. Also attempts to cover up the impact of overegulaion on coal industry jobs.

As usual, Congress is inconsistent. If you going to take these types of tax breaks away, then do it for all oil companies, but they are talking about the top 5.. Why not the top 6? The top 10? All?. And while we are at it, let's take the tax breaks off the table for all industries?

Let's suppose we did this, what we do with the money? Make the deficit lower? I think not. Pay off the deficit? Don't think so?

Spend the money on other crap? History says this is the correct answer.

  • Justice accused of withholding records on Kagan's role in healthcare defense
By Sam Baker - 11/22/11 02:03 PM ET

The Justice Department withheld records about Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan’s role in healthcare reform, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith (R-Texas) said Tuesday.

Smith pressed Attorney General Eric Holder to provide documents and witnesses about Kagan’s time as solicitor general and her role in preparing to defend President Obama’s healthcare reform law in court. Republicans have clamored for Kagan to recuse herself when the Supreme Court takes up a case challenging the law.

Smith said in a letter to Holder that the Justice Department has refused to comply with his requests for documents and interviews about Kagan’s involvement. But the department later publicly released emails that his inquiry covered, Smith said.

Interesting biography for Issa including the Military, working under Wesley Clark's command, auto theft, a brother in jail, potential arson etc.

In my mind Issa has loads of shortcomings, none of which takes away any of Holder's.

Do you understand the difference between someone in the private sector investing in a risky venture, and the government "investing" in a risky venture?*
    .
    .
    .
*scare quotes around "investing," because the government doesn't actually have any money of its own to "invest" in risky ventures - instead it confiscates money from citizens who likely would not approve of the "investment" of their money in the risky venture.

From Yahoo! News: WASHINGTON (Reuters) - In the weeks leading up to a visit by President Barack Obama to Solyndra on May 25, 2010, the California solar-panel maker was in crisis. Prices for solar panels were in free-fall and the company's chief executive officer was bickering with customers unhappy with the amount of electricity produced by the cylindrical panels he invented, according to new e-mails released by Republicans investigating the now-bankrupt company. ...
