  • Four Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) agents in transcribed interviews with top GOP oversight official Darrell Issa’s office are contradicting the Justice Department’s account of “Operation Fast and Furious,” saying hundreds of weapons -– including assault rifles and military grade sniper weapons -– were allowed to escape into the clutches of Mexican drug cartels in an apparently reckless investigative strategy.

Their testimony raises the question of whether Ronald Weich, a deputy to Attorney General Eric Holder, lied to congressional investigators in a Feb. 4 letter denying the allegations. Weich is testifying before Issa’s committee Wednesday.

The four ATF agents describe how the weapons were tracked from sales at U.S. gun shops but not seized as is normal practice. The goal of the operation was to track the weapons as they progressed from the purchasers through criminal networks.

  • Rep. Darrell Issa has released emails that show ATF Director Kenneth Melson, who is overseen by Attorney General Eric Holder, not only knew about Operation Fast and Furious, but was being briefed on a weekly basis about the progress and was watching Cartels purchase weapons used to kill innocent people from his cozy office in Washington D.C.

-The first e-mail from March 10, 2010, to Operation Fast and Furious Group VII Leader David Voth indicates that the two most senior leaders in ATF, Acting Director Kenneth Melson, and Deputy Director Billy Hoover, were “being briefed weekly on” Operation Fast and Furious. The document shows that both Melson and Hoover were “keenly interested in case updates.”

    - A second e-mail from March 12, 2010, shows that Deputy Assistant Director for Field Operations William McMahon was so excited about Fast and Furious that he received a special briefing on the program in Phoenix - scheduled for a mere 45 minutes after his plane landed.

It sounds almost as bad as the time we airlifted a crapload of money to Iraq and then somehow managed to lose track of billions in cash. At least there are some rich soldiers/contractors/Iraqis/terrorists out there somewhere.

  • The more than 2,000 weapons that the Obama Justice Department allowed to be delivered to Mexican narco-terrorist cartels are thought to have been used in the shooting of an estimated 150 Mexican law enforcement officers and soldiers battling the cartels. Two American law enforcement officers have also presumably fallen prey to these weapons, along with an unknown number of civilians on both sides of the border.

President Barack Obama’s Department of Justice has purposefully armed narco-terrorist drug cartels that have been accused of bombings, ambushes, mass murders, public executions, and the assassination of police, politicians, and civic leaders.

Obama’s Justice Department armed the enemy of our neighbor and ally, providing enough arms to equip ten infantry companies, or two battalions, of violent drug dealers.

Iran-Contra was a misguided attempt to trade arms for hostages and supply a covert supply of arms to rebels fighting against a communist dictatorship during the Cold War.

Gunrunner was an attempt to develop enough gun-running evidence to bring down a cartel, and instead supplied thousands of arms to drug cartels locked in a life-or-death struggle with a key U.S. ally and trading partner.

Same. I had expected to see "Obama Administration" and/or "Obama Justice Department" featured prominently in the first sentence.

  • The Justice Dept is being dragged over the coals for this screwup, and nobody wants to give big turtle the credit for covering it? Yeah, he has a point of view many of you don't like...that's your problem.

I'd like to see a whole lot fewer hare-brained projects like this from our government at all levels. But let's just pretend they don't happen (unless a Republican comes up with them). That's a really good plan.

I voted for Bush but came to realize he was bad fore the country, bad for republicans, bad for Americans. Why? because he was doing stuff that was bad for the country.
Obama is doing lots of stuff that is bad for the country but no one will talk about it or him. Why? because he makes us feel good that we have an AfroAmerican that we can vote for and support an AfroAmerican in our post racial society. We feel good no matter that he had no experience, we knew very little of his past except he surrounded himself with those who vowed to destroy America as we know it. How long will you continue to support this loser?

Sorta like O'Bumble beating his chest and telling the world that when we got Bin Laden, we had a safe house right by OBL's compound where we had observed him for several months. So the Pakistanis went to that safe house and grabbed the owner and 4 others who had helped the US and "questioned them", and you can just bet it's not by squirting Perrier up their noses. Then comes the NYT to tell the Pakistanis that there were more than 5 folks who aided the US in operation Geronimo, so nanananana
