It wasn't a budget cut, the filmed this season with the same budget as last year. Just double the episodes, so the money has to go farther.

Damn, that's great. Would have been an awesome episode.
They did a tie-in prequel book somewhat recently with a major (and so far unseen) character, and there's a scene in Atlanta with a few people and a shitload of zombies. This seems like an even cooler version of that.
If you're unfamiliar with the comics, don't go Googling around for that book. Major, major spoilers.

What's amazing is, the comics are way more action packed than the show - and the comics are slow as shit.

Sucks the dude from Terriers got popped after 15 minutes, but that was a helluva scene.

Loved that scene in the bar. You could cut the tension with a knife, then Rick shows that he is not one to be trifled with.

Wow what a crap episode with the obvious exception of the bar scene.
I think the writers' goal must be to bore us so much that we feel like a zombie and have a more interactive experience.....OR they just suck. It's one or the other.
I got so frustrated that they came up with such a lame excuse to get Lori in that accident. She is a stick-in-the-mud, but she's never exhibited this level of stupidity. And I don't believe for one second that she would leave her son with his other parent already in harm's way.
The only consolation will be if she is dead.

She's by far the worst character and she seemingly only exists to argue or bitch at other characters. She's either arguing with Rick about him doing anything, or she's bitching at Shane for being there. She's pointless.
But outside of her (which has never been written well) I liked the episode. I thought the idea of the burial/burning contrast was well done, and the arm falling off was a nice bit (good sound work if you listened closely enough).
Although Dale's massive FORESHADOWING!!!! speech about who will Shane kill next was a bit too telegraphed, but whatever. The last 15 or so minutes was incredibly riveting, and it was filmed brilliantly (loved the holster angle on Shane's quick draw).

Yeah even though Lori is a moron, it's totally out of character for her to just jump in the car to go get Rick and Herschel because someone was sick (that girl definitely got bit/scratched and we just don't know it yet, right?). She'd definitely whine about it until someone told her to shut up or went with her. At the very least she'd whine so loudly about how no one wanted to help her that they'd notice she was gone a curiously long time.

The Bar scene was so good. Rick just entered beast mode. Lori is the most unbearable character on the show followed by Dale. However, leaving Carl behind seems very out of character. Totally agree w/ bk on the burning vs. burial scence; solid work here.
I thought fluid transfer has to take place to become a zombie. Is getting scratch enough? Also, aren't the effects immdediate?

They play pretty loose with the "rules" for getting infected. I don't really care, especially if it's meaningless background character.
