True Blood Season Premiere

  • surprised there's not a thread on this with it being on last night. Glad to see that Russell's back and nice to have Chris Meloni on HBO again after being on OZ.

  • I refused to watch last season because the ending of the previous season was so bad... torn as to whether to watch this one or not....

speaking of which did anyone else notice that they showed absolutely no boob last night?

The werewolf in the beginning her hair was covering everything. Jessica didn't get nude, then Erics vampire sister that he was banging was nude except for her bra.

    Total B.S imo

  • I think Erics sister could bea very serviceable Kate Beckinsale 2.0

  • True Blood jumped the shark after Season 2. I just watch it for the nudity now...

That said - Jessica is the absolute BEST.

OK, here goes my second post in this thread about Jessica, my strawberry blond vampire queen. The most horrifying scene last season was when Marnie the witch put a spell on the vampires and Jessica almost walked into the sunshine and died. Remeber they left that scene as a cliffhanger and I spent a week thinking they killed off the Jessica character. True Blood will be dead to me if they kill off Jessica. Also I think it is clear at this point that she has a no-nudity clause in her contract. But she's still fabulous in her Victoria Secrets.

  • didnt she already show a little boob last season? it was quick but i'm pretty sure she did.

  • wasn't bad but the flashback scene from when they were kids was stupid.

although young Tara sounding almost exactly like old Tara, while intimidating that kid made it worthwhile for me...that, and her then popping the knucklehead

  • Anybody else watching this abortion of a show now? I'm guessing so and nobody cares enough to comment on it. I'm only watching for the chicks at this point, but I do feel like I have invested too much time in the books and shows to just drop it.

Really none of the storylines are close to the books. I did notice the Debbie Pelts parents appear in the previews, I wonder if they will be introducing John Quinn this season. He was probably my favorite character of all in the books. I know they have to change somethings to keep the characters relevant and the storylines moving b/c it's TV, but I just don't understand why they've deviated soooooooo much from the books.

  • ugh

The out of control Tara vampire plot line is terrible. The Army guy, Terry, Arlene plot line is terrible.

Everything is terrible except for Bill/Eric, Jessica/Jason and wolves/shifters.

These are my EXACT thoughts and what I just told my fiancée. If they're varying from the books so far (as another poster said), just fucking kill Tara. It honesty feels like a god damn trolling job with her character at this point.

  • I just don't understand why AB feels the need to give every supporting character their own storyline. This isn't a network drama with 22 episodes. Arlene, Terry, Army Guy and Hoyt are clearly not why people watch this show -- do not give them 1/3+ of each episode's screen time. It's frusterating because if you take those parts out and expand on the shows strengths (mainly vampire politics) I think you could at least achieve a show I don't regret watching each week.

I think young Tara was taller than old Tara - casting fail.

And I look forward to many episodes of annoying vampire Tara.

The only one really worth watching, we didn't see directly - Russell.

    Alcide
Eric, Bill, Law and Order SVU guy

    Those are the interesting storylines.

  • I started watching the show in the middle of season 2 and then went back and watched season 1. IMHO as far as past seasons go:

    Season 1: ok
    Season 2: very, very good
    Season 3: very good
    Season 4: just awful

I thought about not watching the season premiere but I did. It was ok. I liked episode 2 but overall I am teetering on abandoning the show. It needs to build on this past episode and quickly. The best thing it has going for it is that it is on Sunday nights at 9 when I'm usually home and will watch garbage tv.

  • tara, hoyt, army shit, reverand gay vampire from the fellowship of sun = stupid

stop with that and it's a watchable show.

More or less agree with your assessment. I think the show has gone steadily downhill since Godric's death which was the best scene in the whole show, IMO.

The problem is that AB insists on having 20 series regulars who all have storylines. Expanding on the lives of Terry, Arlene, Andy, Tara and to some extent Sam have seriously diluted what could be (and used to be) a very good show. If he concentrated almost entirely on the supernatural community and Sookie, much like the books did, it would be a much more watchable show. AB made two deviations from the book so far that I think actually added substance to the show -- Lafayette's character (he died at the end of book 1) and Godric (he wasn't Eric's maker and had no real authority in the vampire community).
