Resident Evil 4 for PS2 is one of my all-time favorites for combining difficulty, fear, a short creepy monster dude who looked like Napoleon, zombies, zombie monster dogs, and enormous weapons in a wonderful, thrilling package.

The fact that I can't play Goldeneye 64 multiplayer online right now is one of Nintendo's greatest failings.

Street fighter 2 and mortal kombat, i dont remember which came first. I obviously had a nintendo before those came out, but those games were really where video games became big for me because they were so much cooler than anything else, and i was more excited about multiplayer than ever before.
Someone on a podcast brought up how when you first got those games you'd just play by mashing random combos of buttons and if you or your friend suddenly performed some amazing move you'd never seen before, you'd both retreat to opposite sides of the screen, forget about the fight, and just try to figure out how to get ryu to shoot that fireball again. With the internet making cheat codes and walkthroughs so easily available the experiences like that have changed
