The Killing

  • I'm liking it less and less each show. It doesn't help that I'm not a big fan of the main character (Sarah). She has no personality and really seems like her character was only written so they can balance out Stephen. Plus all the faux cliff hangers are getting annoying.

We know Sarah is never going to Sonoma until after the case is solved, so the fake struggle she's having every week is tiresome. Also, the endings at the end of each episode are only created for dramatic effect and add no real substance to the story. They lead up to this big ending and it keeps getting squashed in the first minute of the next episode. Not to mention they've dragged on this politic arc that has no real point several episodes in. I'm sure it will tie together by the end, but right now they've wasted too much time on the campaign that only has minor ties to the case.

I'm going to continue watching it because I've already invested time in the series, but unless the next few episodes are amazing, I doubt I'd watch another season.

  • Yea I'm still watching. Last night was awesome and better cliffhanger than usual. Obviously something sketchy going on with the mooslims. Did that one dude that gave them the address set the cops up and call the feds on them?

The richmond storyline is really dragging at this point. There is no way he could win now. Also how awkward is that when jamie leaves the room they start having sex on the desk 5 seconds later? You know he had to be watching from the other room.

  • Yeah the Richmond storyline is really uninteresting at this point. Agree about the weird sex timing. I also had the thought that no politician would run an ad like the mayor ran. It was way over the top negative, and the teacher hasn't even been arrested or charged with anything so I don't think the mayor would open himself up to a slander lawsuit like that. The political story was kind of interesting when it tied in closely with the murder, but right now it is like it's own boring show that is interupting the more interesting murder show.

  • Another thing that annoys me is how corny/sappy the little kids are. It was fine for the first or second episode, but i feel like everytime that younger kid is in a scene he is gonna say something stupid. I guess his lines are directed at the mom audience. I just can't stand anymore "mooom, is Rosie in heavennnn?" Grrr he is such a horrible actor. Almost as bad as Jimmy's son on Yes Dear.

  • Am I the only one who thinks that the Dad of the dead girl (Sam I think) is really Louis CK with his hair dyed brown?

  • billy cambells christian balesque batman whisper voice is so annoying

  • I'm still really enjoying this show. I agree that the political storyline is losing steam, but I have a feeling it is going to start tying in nicely w/ the murder storyline.

the dad is 50 lbs bigger and has a much rounder face

  • I feel like they are really trying to stretch this show out to get extra episodes instead of making the series actually good. Sunday's show added absolutely nothing. They are still dragging out the election which still has no relation to the murder as of yet and to a degree focused more on that arc than the dead girl. The whole FBI thing (which once again got resolved within the first minute) was a bit over the top and a cheap way imo to make the case more difficult.

I can't believe there are actually 13 episodes for this season. If they don't tie all these arcs together soon, I'm out.

    JuniorGT

  • You should just drop out now....

So anyways...I thought it was an alright episode. Yea no shit they weren't going to be arrested by the FBI, lol if anyone was on the edge of their seat for that. It was more about why the FBI was there in the first place. Which introduces the new terrorism angle with the mooslims. Interesting to see how Rosie was involved.

Also another big clue with the Grand Canyon sweatshirt and leading closer and closer to Bennett. I thought they were eventually going to go back to those emo kids but I guess they are sticking with the terrorist people. Adam Richmond needs to go away. They have nothing to do with the investigation at all.

I'm guessing Rosie found out about them or decided she wanted out and they killed her?

    Meast

  • The murder/terrorism link is kind of interesting. The campaign is wholly uninteresting and the show really loses focus when that is the center of an episode like it was the other night.

  • Anyone else LOL at Holder being promoted to homocide and getting such a high profile case and then finding out he was only 6 months sober from hardcore drugs? Pretty realistic imo.

I don't think it was a promotion, just a transfer from the Narc unit. Linda is suppose to be training him too but she was suspicious until they cleared everything up at that scene at the docks.

Narco to homicide is generally viewed as a promotion. At least if Homicide: Life on the Streets is accurate.

This, plus I know a couple people who weren't even let into the police academies they applied for because they tried coke or acid, can't remember which, in high school.

  • Now we're picking up some steam.

  • I know only 6 or 7 days have passed on the show, but I seriously want to punch the dead girl's mom in the gut and tell her to "Stop Grieving Already!".....

I have no real basis for thinking this, but I'm starting to like the dad's employee for being the killer. I'm sure I'm wrong, but there's something about the guy that strikes me as suspicious.

I always thought it was the lady cops beau (since he always gets the part of a creep...yes I know its great reasoning)

  • Good episode. Glad to see Bennett killed regardless of if he killed Rosie or not, didn't really like him at all in the first place. The scene at the school where he tries to teach again was soooo awkward I cringed. Excellent job by the writers and actors. When Rosie's dad is beating Bennett to death, how wierd is his friend/employee to be jumping around in the background punching rocks? Does he get a super adrenaline rush/high from killing people? The Richmond campaign was even better than usual, mainly because I really like that rich asshole guy. Although I still don't see the tie-in with the murder besides the campaign car. It's like watching two different shows rolled into one. Adams continues to prove he is a bigger scumbag than people realize and I think could eventually have a connection in the murder.

I think the employee/friend of Rosie's dad will become a suspect and we could find out something suspicious about him. I don't see them retracing to the high school kids so I guess they are starting from scratch.

    Meast

  • Yeah I'm with you on the dad's friend thing. He has definitely given off a creepy vibe, and then him beating up rocks while the dad was beating bennett also strikes me as something an unstable person would do. After stagnating for an episode or two I think last night was very good and I'm excited again to see where we go from here.

  • I think this show sucks now. Every week they set up something big at the end of the episode only to explain it away quickly in the next.

The whole politics thing is massively uninteresting and the "make this shot and I'll give you $5 mil" thing was ridiculous. Not only was it laughable that they did a cutaway, but why the hell should I care if he wins the election? He's unlikable and annoying, plus the show is about a murder, not an election.

The male cop Holder is stupid and annoying and said so many cliches during the interrogation of Muhammed that I was rolling my eyes. Similarly, the defacing of the mosque just felt so fake. Swastika's on a mosque in Seattle? Please try harder. They should have just put up a flashing neon sign that said "INTOLERANCE"

    This is correct.

Also, the mom being a nuisance every single episode is starting to get really old.
