If I had to vote in a referendum, I'd vote against gay marriage. No real reason and I recognize the bigotry. But you might be pushing me towards the dark side ....

Still, in each piece of litigation over same-sex marriage laws immutability is addressed by both sides.

hmmm, not like that is a controversial opinion. most polls in most states have > 50% of people opposed to gay marriage. I don't think most of those people are raging homophobes - they probably recognize that it is unfair but don't think the issue is that important or critical to change a very old institution. plus some of the activists hurt the larger cause.

hah. something like that. I'm more concerned about things like treatment/rights for the disabled, availability for low-income housing, immigration rights, etc. Gay marriage just isn't on my radar. Probably inevitable, so I wouldn't worry too much ...

Oh man, since I moved to the west coast my number of oriental friends has gone up by like 4000%, however I had to give up all black friends and acquaintances. Not sure where that leaves me according to homeboy's scientific forulma for determining one's level of tolerance.

Seriously, I'm hard pressed to come up with a more offensive opinion than, "I have a view that I know is bigoted and discriminatory. It's an issue that I don't really care much about. But yeah, despite the fact that I don't really care, I'd vote in favor of bigotry."
At least Terpin78 actually feels strongly about the issue. You're just like, "meh, I'm a bigot. "
