Pork Roll and Cheddar sauce (not cheez wiz) on a hard roll from Barnacle Bill's in Rumson, NJ. is one of my favorite things ever.

I plan on adding lots of submissions when I get more time this evening and tomorrow. Great thread.

where the hell is rumson.....isnt that where bruce springsteen lives....down the shore somewhere?

  • For sheer volume, Harold's Deli in Edison, NJ. It's not quite as good as the famous Manhattan delis, but it's still really good and the sandwiches are ginormous.

  • This doesn't really fall into any listed category (I guess it would be closest to corned beef or pastrami), but the smoked meat sandwich at Mile End in Brooklyn is fantastic. I'm sure keegs, Jemo, Grove, sully, and the rest of the HIPSTER ELITISTS can recommend other good stuff there too.

the ruth wilenski sandwich is excellent there. it's a pressed beef salami sandwich with their homemade mustard. i've enjoyed all of their stuff.

Will have to try next time I'm back up that way.

Speaking of huge sandwiches in Central Jersey, what about the sandwiches at the Grease Trucks? I was always a Fat Nini guy myself.

Despite growing up 30 mins from New Brunswick, I have never been to grease trucks.

only communists dont like pork roll....its everything thats good in life in a piece of meat

jesus christ, is there anything philly that you won't blindly stick up for? there is a reason noone anywhere else eats pork roll over bacon or sausage on their breakfast sandwiches.

theres a patch of land somwhere near jackson that represents jersey...the rest of it is either phillys or new yorks.....im just trying to find where that line begins and ends

Monmouth County. Yeah, Springsteen lives there along with Queen Latifah, Jon Stewart, and tons of Wall St types.

The place I mentioned I have been to probably about twenty times and Bon Jovi was sitting at a table in the back probably 4 or 5 of the times I was there. Not a fancy place at all but a good spot for beers.

I always thought pork roll was a North Jersey thing, not Philly. Guess its both.

the burger on the website of that spot looks quite tasty

i always looked at pork roll as a south jersey thing....definitely not philly but more down here than north jersey or ny

in fact i think it originates somewhere in south jerz

  • Roast Pork at Dinic's is pretty good, especially the green stuff, cheese, and roll. Very filling too. I was eyeing my wife's second half but didn't have room.

The market was great too, so many different wonderful smells.

mile end's smoked meat is probably the best sandwich i've ever had in my life

Need to hit Mile End up badly. Heard great things. Will probably have to wait till the Kentucky game in November.

Love both Schwartz and Dunn's in Montreal for smoked meat sandwiches or poutine.

Have a BOS to SFO flight this week and I think I will use the flight as a way to make a big list of my favorites.

What, Six Flags? Despite your anti-Jersey sentiment, the line is probably exit 6. I grew up in Monmouth County and that's definitely NY's part of NJ.

    PredaTerp

  • while overpriced (tourist tax), i liked the smoke meat at katz's deli better than mile end. obviously both are out of this world.

I would assume that the line is somewhere near 27 between Rutgers and Princeton.

Currently in line for Santucci's. Place is kinda packed.

Way too far north. More like 195.

The Exchange on G St in DC used to have a solid French Dip but I haven't been there in over 10 years. http://www.theexchangesaloon.com/
They serve it cold now (with hot au jus). Anyone been there recently?

  • The Pambazo sandwich at Fiesta Mexicana in Rosedale, Maryland is one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Chorizo, small potato chunks, lettuce, queso fresco, on a bun dipped in red pepper sauce. Just a fantastic sandwich.
