yep, however they will be at Wolf Trap on 7/35 with Everclear, Lit, Marcy Playground (and sugar ray). Maybe we should post that in the Middle School thread.

This is tonight, gonna be fucking awesome.

Floydfest starts Thursday, anyone in? I'm looking forward to the Yarn show at the Beer Garden Stage on Sunday.

I'm going! My 3rd year there. Lineup isn't spectacular this year (not too excited for Jackson Brown or Matisyahu) but its a great festival. Really excited for the Punch Brothers and Chris Thile's set on the porch stage. If you see a Steve Blake Md Jersey, thats me.

    ROCKS

Bleh...he's one of the few left on my "need to see" bucket list. Is he still playing solo? I passed last year because I wanted to see him with a full band in support. I guess I'm running out of time?

Unrelated to concerts, but I just picked up Dr John's newest record Locked Down. Fantastic stuff. It was produced by The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach. Great modern funk sound. Let me know if anyone hears about him playing DC/Bmore/Philly area (appears to be out of the country now), I definitely want to see him support this one.

Jackson Browne has been on my bucket list also, and like you, I passed on a few solo concerts. I understand he is highly political at his shows now and talks a lot in lieu of playing. I don't wanna hear that ...

On a positive note, I got in on the pre-sale to see The Who in November at Verizon Center. Another group on my bucket list. Can't wait!

I'm on the fence for that one. I've seen them plenty of times and really love every track on Quadrophenia, but from what I hear of Roger's voice these days I'm just not sure.

    For real?

Not to go all NJT, but I thought they SUCKED. I thought it was very abrasive and unpleasant to listen to.

I also should have realized it going into the show, but they were billed together, and not Sleigh Bells opening for Hot Chip. I was kind of pissed that Hot Chip only played for an hour

I just embarrassed myself with this post

Because they are awful. I went to their show at Rock and Roll Hotel and it was one of the worst concerts I've ever attended. Not only because of how slammed the venue gets when it's sold out which makes the experience that less enjoyable, but it was essentially strobe lights and loud noises.

I'm just bummed that Hot Chip only had an hour to perform given how much material is in their catalogue. It's a shame they couldn't play 9:30 Club for two nights like their last tour in 2010

Yeah - I can understand that. That (and the ridiculous prices) is one reason why I bypassed on Roger Waters concert His voice was shot years ago.

I've heard Roger Daltrey lately and he didn't sound too bad... but I can understand the apprehension.

I'm considering it. The lineup for a place like Annapolis is just insane.

  • Salmon, Truckers, Sam Bush and Punch Bros. are some of my favorite bands. Love me some Brandi Carlisle as well. Punch Bros. doing Radiohead is a religious experience.

Sleigh Bells might be worse than the sound of a blow torch pointing directly at my ears at extremely close range.

  • Seeing Wilco tonight in NYC. Super excited.

"The drummer for Maryland's pep band just freaked out: 'They're trying to slow the game down,' he screamed. 'Get up on them, get up on them.

  • Rocks,

I'll probably skip the JB show myself but I'm pumped about seeing Jonathon Wilson earlier in the night. Thursday looks hot the but rest of the weekend looks great. My wife was a big Nickle Creek fan so I imagine we will catch that Chris Thile set also.

It did not get much press but I thought their last album was very good. I really like what Nels Cline brings to the band.

I feel like shit this morning but god damn I love Wolf Trap. I hate to admit it, but it's the only area where Virginia has Maryland beat.

  • I want to pile on....Sleigh Bells is one of those popular alt bands that drives me insane. They suck so much ass, I don't even know where to begin. That cheerleader metal sound, or whatever you want to call it, is the most grating sound in the world. I couldn't imagine seeing them in a live setting....it would be amazingly effective as psychological warfare when trying to siege a hostage taker or someone holed up in a building.

Im ready for aa 5th of vodica to end my feels.

I had never been but I was impressed. Much better than the Lube, haha.

I thought Gin Blossoms and Everclear actually did really really well. Hilarious that I saw Everclear at Santa Fe Cafe in like 2006 when I was in college.

I haven't seen too many bad concerts, but this was definitely one of the worst. It was even worse than awful, awful, Further and Crystal Castles.

The whole time it reminded me of in South Park they played Slayer in the music festival to drive all the hippies away

Best outdoor venue in the area imo. The food/Byob policy for the lawn is awesome and the place is pretty clean, parking is not a disaster. I was dissapointed there wasn't really a reggae show this year on the schedule - they've had some really good ones in the past.

Yeah, I guess the fact that Virginia is also home to literally the worst concert venue in the world kinda cancels out their cred for having Wolf Trap.

I'm a big Lit fan and had never seen them live, so that's the main reason I wanted to go in the first place. But I enjoyed the rest of the bands, too.

Yeah was pretty cool when they all took the stage for Santa Monica at the end. Glad to see that they were all having fun with this. Also surprisingly strong crowd for something like this. Like I said the last time i saw Everclear they were at friggin Santa Fe Cafe.
