Slots in Maryland

  • Just walked through and did not see any tables. Just the individual poker machines.

Bobby's Burger Palace is pretty good though!

    satcomsquid

  • Oh well. Can't say I blame them. Those electric poker tables aren't cheap.

  • Heading in tomorrow midday to check it out.

Could you imagine having one of those nice houses that were built probably 7-8 years ago off Arundel Mills drive? LOL

good friends of mine bought there. they fought venomously against slots

Is that where the music venue is? I heard that wasn't going to open until the fall.

  • yeah, its more slots and the music venue. not sure when the venue opens though.

I could imagine, no chance anyone wants to every purchase their homes in the future, which is a shame since there are really nice houses over there.

  • Got there around noon today. It was fairly crowded, but no lines or anything to get in. There were around 8-10 straight blackjack tables that I saw, 15 dollar minimum bets. There were a couple other variations, and some roulette and craps tables. There were also a few rows of seats by the bar that had personal screens, but I didn't really see what was on there.

We left after a couple hours and went inside the mall, when we came out around 4, there was a fairly long line outside.

Basically, not worth it until the crowds die down.

I was there. We worked on the Construction Project, and we were invited to the VIP thing prior to Opening to the Public.

I only did the Blackjack and Slots. The Blackjack was pretty cool. There is an electonic dealer pushing cards out, and you play at a table, with others, and it's similar to playing with a real live dealer. But there are some differences that favor the house (i.e. when you split cards, you get one card, period).

But it was pretty cool, and I ended up leaving after a double down hand ($140.00 ticket ftw, but I did have $40.00 invested).

The have an awesome bar their called the R bar (great for watching sports), and Bobby Flay's Burger Place, and Cheesecake Factory.

It is easily the best Maryland Casino. And it was pretty nuts in there.

Don't most casinos give only one card with a split? Now I have not been in many, but it seems that is the practice...

That's on an Ace only. The standard is you can split anything but A up to 3-4 times and take as many cards as you want and double down after two cards. Split A is one card only, and in my experience you end up with two face cards maybe 5% of the time. Nothing more frustrating than splitting aces and gettting 2, 3 on top.

I anxiously await Kool's report. Hopefully he's still in there and is on a major hot streak.

Finally went at 4:30 on Monday. No line (yay). Pretty much spent the whole 3 hours at the roulette tables. They have one stand alone roulette table that seats 8 (one of the seats was broke though). Then you can go by the area where the R-bar is located and play roulette there (one of four options you can play at a screen including craps).

I really liked this place alot. As long as I don't go there on a weekend, I'll be fine.

  • Was it an actual table or a machine?

Dealer games aren't allowed in MD. So games like craps and roulette have physical wheels/dice/etc but it's automated. All the bets are placed through a touch screen.

It was a machine. I think the roulette wheel is very similar to a real roulette. The ball spins around the roulette wheel like the one at all the other casinos. There isn't a person that spin the ball around the roulette wheel. I actually like it better this way. It only takes one minute from the last game to the next game. With the dealer spinning the wheel, after collecting and paying out chips (plus placing new bets), it can take up to 10 minutes for the next game.

Edit to say that I do like the dealer when playing craps, blackjack or poker. It's just not the same feeling with a machine. The roulette works really well in this format. (Maryland Live need to add at least two more 8 seat roulette stations. We were taking about that last night.)

I would buy as many MGM Resorts bonds as you can get your hands on. They all have high coupons and stable cash flow and debt service.

  • Bid for high end casino in PG County collapses.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/dc-politics/bid-for-prince-georges-casino-collapses/2012/06/20/gJQAlBnSrV_story.html

Three of the house members are against adding a 6th site but want table games.
The other 8 members on the comission will not vote to add table games unless National Harbor gets a casino.

Not a disaster because the National Harbor casino wouldn't have opened until July 1st 2016 anyways. They can lobby on this for two years and get a vote in 2014.

Members of the work group said they agreed on several facets of a proposal, including allowing table games such as blackjack and roulette, at the state’s five existing slots sites. But three members of the group — all members of the House of Delegates — balked at the notion of adding a sixth casino.

The group’s other eight members — including three state senators — supported the full proposal, which legislative analysts said would boost the state’s share of gaming revenue by $223 million a year. Most of those eight members, however, were not willing to move forward without a Prince George’s site in the mix.

O’Malley expressed bewilderment at the turn of events, telling reporters he thought there was “broad consensus” among the group, which also included members of his administration and a private-sector financial services executive.

“For some reason, suddenly the House decided they did not want to share on that consensus for reasons that don’t make a whole lot of sense to me,” O’Malley said. “And so I can’t entirely explain it to you. I’m looking forward to hearing back from the speaker of the house sometime.”

Aides said Speaker Michael E. Busch (D-Anne Arundel), who appointed the House members and met with them Wednesday, was not available to reporters after the meeting.

No tables. I don't think people have cared about that so far this month. Especially the 4th of July crowd. Great crowd today during the Nationals game.

It was cool because I was only going to hang out for a few minutes. I hit on my second machine on the 3rd pull, about 10 minutes in.

Thats how it always happens. I nailed $640 at a slot machine in Minnesota on an Indian Reservation. Had $2 in my pocket, walked out with $641!

    congrats!
