Selling on eBay

He countered for 750. what should my next offer be? I started at 400.

You risk the guy getting pissed and telling you to shove it - he came down on the original price (allegedly, could just have been a pricing strategy) and now again to $750. How badly do you want it, and what is its actual worth on the market? Are you going to resell, or is it a collectible that you just want to keep? Do these things go up in value over time (unlike baseball cards, say)? Is there going to be much competition bidding for this item? (Some things are unknowable, you just have to guess based on your previous experience.)

If it were me, and it had a high future market value, I'd go up more than 50% of the difference, ie, to around $600.

None of this advice is intended to tell you what you should do, only what I would think about the transaction. I know little about this type of item and market, and my thoughts should be taken with a grain of salt.

I didnt see this posted before for some reason. I countered with 550, and he came down to 675. It is definitely worth at least 1000 to the right collector, but I would never sell it. I have collected memorabilia all my life and recently decided to make an effort to try to get as many "slabbed" autographs from hall of famers as I can. I have found some good deals so far, but this would be the most I have spent on one. I still have 12 hours to consider the bid but I think I am going to pass and keep looking. I can probably find an Ott without other players for 500 if I am patient.
