    Here's his entire statement:

    A Statement from Rush
    March 03, 2012

For over 20 years, I have illustrated the absurd with absurdity, three hours a day, five days a week. In this instance, I chose the wrong words in my analogy of the situation. I did not mean a personal attack on Ms. Fluke.

I think it is absolutely absurd that during these very serious political times, we are discussing personal sexual recreational activities before members of Congress. I personally do not agree that American citizens should pay for these social activities. What happened to personal responsibility and accountability? Where do we draw the line? If this is accepted as the norm, what will follow? Will we be debating if taxpayers should pay for new sneakers for all students that are interested in running to keep fit?In my monologue, I posited that it is not our business whatsoever to know what is going on in anyone's bedroom nor do I think it is a topic that should reach a Presidential level.

My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir. I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices."

  • If he says he didn't mean to personally attack her he's full of crap, because that's exactly what he did.

How exactly does Rush want to prevent two men or two women from sleeping together? Does he want to criminalize sodomy or same-sex relations?

I actually remember listening to that clown when the culture war was about whether or not laws criminalizing sodomy should be overturned. Amazingly, that was happening within the past decade. If you had to guess, which side of the debate do you think Rush Limbaugh was on when Lawrence v. Texas was being debated and decided?

Do you know, or are you just being coy?

    SATerp

  • Let's just say Rush Limbaugh wasn't thrilled when the Supreme Court overturned your state's laws on sodomy ... amazingly, it took until the 21st century to do so.

[On a related note, if I recall correctly, I think Bill O'Reilly got into a few epic fights with his viewers defending the Supreme Court's decision. I gained some respect for him that day.]

  • So Rush has apologized -- and he should have.

As for Sandra Fluke -- truly I am thinking of writing the following letter to the dean of the Georgetown Law School:

    Dear Dean William Michael Treanor:

Please revisit your admissions standards you are obvioulsy missing something in your screening criteria.

    Sincerely,

    Crofton

Seriously -- that is supposed to be a top notch school and they roll out an idiot like that girl and put her on national t-v. I could care less about her sexual provcilvities -- her statements and willingness to make them in that forum calls into question her judgment.

BTW I'm not the Catholic Church and the plan I buy my employees has covered contraception for years and will continue to do so -- but I do resent the federal government telling me how to design the benefit program for which I pay the lion's share of the cost.

Additionally -- Planned Parenthood seems to be a little cheaper than what Fluke said...

Yup. Like I think you're a pretentious asshole, and I'll tell you that.

But seriously, no offense. Not a personal attack.

At least this is all somewhat entertaining. People take themselves way too fucking seriously. I'm tired of these debates over shit that shouldn't even be debated. Gay marriage, this shit, etc.

  • So Rush apologizes and said it was only a joke. This just confirms my long held belief that most of his show is schtick, not substance. The problem of course is he convinces his listeners that his position is the right one to take.

Look you all know I'm fairly conservative -- that said...

Rush is not a pundit he is an entertainer -- for my money an average one. But he has identified a core audience that is loyal and he knows how to play them. The only real conviction that Rush has is expanding his already impressive income statements and balances sheets -- hence the apology.

and in true "I am really not sorry at all" form, the LEDE is buried at the bottom of his "statement"

lol @ not apologizing in the 1st sentence. that is so awesome.

and as crofton said, the guy is in the "entertainment" business. and he isnt all that "entertaining" these days......

and I am someone that tends to have more conservative views on things. I loved that he was forced to apologize because of the advertising boycott that was beginning. you know he was so angry to have to do that

Her written statement to Congress has been posted in this thread about 3 times and makes her sound smarter and more adult than most of the people attacking her. Which is probably why the President of Georgetown has already come to her defense -- good luck with your letter.

I asked Tag at least twice for examples of this testimony I keep hearing about and he posted about where she talks about how much she likes to sleep around. Maybe I'm just missing it. Perhaps you can provide examples of this embarrassing testimony talking about her sexual proclivities.

Comment from an "S. Fluke", at The Tombs (to an anonymous friend whose iPhone happened to be recording):

"Huh, yah, I'm serious about this birth control shit. I am so fucking sick of the taste of 3L jizz, and my ass hole is starting to look like a spare tire swing. I'm going back to my go-to hole, and either those damned priests buy me a dozen jimmy caps every night, or I'm going to need industrial grade bc pills, or a bionic IUD."

This might be what he's referring to, though I can't vouch for this being authentic.

Why argue with a person who misread my comment? You were the one calling a poster a dumb ass btw! I responded to that attack fairly miildly. If you believe what you say, good for you! Everyone has an opinion..., whether it is accurate or something they read and want to believe.

Meanwhile, Fluke's testimony can hardly be taken as accurate in toto. Even if the terrible outcome she described for that gay 32 yeal old who lost an ovary is accurate, one screw up doesnit require massive government intervention affecting tens of thousands of other people. Left Fluke and her buddies in the Reproduction Rights Center at Georgetown Law School sue the insurance company for relief, as if she is correctly outlining the fact pattern, the case is a good one. The answer is not, as the entitlement crowd wants, massive government intervention.

If a law forbidding sodomy is overturned making sodomy legal, does it change the meaning of sodomy!

No it does not! It is the usual rhetoric (well practiced) that one victim was wrongly treated so entire mountains must be moved to prevent such reoccurences. Then the Feds take over with mandates, and even more screw ups occur. Atleast the young woman who allegedly lost an ovary can sue the insurtance company (and have plenty of free legal help from Fluke and collegues). Little chance of suing the Feds for their screw ups, which are beyond counting.

She said that she spends $1000 per year on contraception. As crofton pointed out, Planned Parenthood offers birth control pills at a substantial discount to her alleged costs. Extrapolating, one can guess the remainder of her expenses are for rubbers (ie for disease prevention). At $.50 a piece, we start to see a robust sexual life. This does not account for the rubbers provided her male partners. Good for her! Great tension relief for the rigors of the 'paper chase.'BTW, I do not care if this woman choses to have intercourse 3 times a day; that is her business. What I don't like is taxpayers footing the biill for it, and Fluke demanding this as her entitlement!

The bottom line is when the government mandates coverages, costs go up When costs go up, more and more people drop coverage, taking the risk going 'bare.' Sure it is cheaper to prevent pregnancy then to end it, but where is the up front personal responsibility. Besides what about the cost for treatment for the uninsureds who could not afford insurance riddled with mandates?

Fluke is already on a "public interest scholarship" which I presume is a result of a commitment for service in LegalAid or some government social org following graduation. BTW, the semester tab for Georgetown Law is $23,400. Her testimony said she worked during the summer suggesting she is a full time law student. One might think she ought to be satisfied with avoiding over ninety grand in tuition costs to obtain a degree from a prestigious law school. Based on her testimony, apparently notmore is better.

No offense, but that's somewhat ironic coming from someone who said:

To hear demands that the taxpayers pay for Fluke's sexual activities, who said under oath "I have sex alot (definition of a slut = promiscuous female) to the tune of $1000 per year, is an outrage of an excessive entitlement attitude.

I think her attackers have been far guiltier of inaccurately quoting, summarizing, and characterizing her testimony.

I was wrong on that, having succumbed to Limbaugh's recounting, rather then checking the information myself. Won't make that mistake again. Satisfied?

What say you about my further arguments here, after you referred my to her testimony, and I learned that I was wrong to say she testified that "she had alot of sex!"

There is no irony, none at all. It was an admitted mistake, which you pointed out, and I have now corrected. Apologizes to any who might have been offended.
