  • My main gripe is still with Robb. They're going to fuck up how we're supposed to feel about his marriage.

It didn't. But if they're setting up a trend of making Dany's boring storyline better by changing the story, then I'm on board. Plus still keeping the awesome parts like the House of the Undying, etc.

  • Not sure I like the Jon + Jaime deviations. Like Jon letting Ygritte go better, and like Jaime's book escape attempt better than murdering "alton".

  • I was waiting for this ending to an episode, it is such a lock that every time they have a fake death, they end the episode with it.

I imagine next week is when Cat lets him go with Brienne. If anything, Alton gave us a way into the mind of Jaime since without reading the book from his POV its harder to get an idea as to his perspective on things, his life, his character, etc...

I guess it's in character for him to kill Alton if need be, but I liked the book storyline of the escape better than murdering him there.

Well it was just a device. To show his conflict, between doing what is right and doing what he has to do. The watcher can't know what is in Jaime's head without a visual representation. In the end, he was recaptured and they also found a way to add in the book event of the Karstarks being pissed off at Robb/Cat. Now they'll have Cat release him and all will be as in the book.

  • Otherwise, the best thing they've ever done so far is pair Arya with Tywin. Those scenes are magnificent.

Loved the scene with Tyrion and Cersei, where at the end she's getting upset over her kids and Tyrion walks over like he is going to comfort her, and both of them just stand there, realizing their family relationship is so fucked they can't even handle a simple act of comfort.

    PaulUMD

  • yeah I'm really enjoying the Tywin/Arya scenes. Alot.

  • Oh shit, I forgot about Cat asking for the sword at the end. Is she gonna do, you know, what happens to Jaime and then set him loose?

And where is the Greatjon anyway?

  • small difference but didn't Sansa successfully get rid of her "soiled" bedding...I'm fine with the way the show is playing out just trying to remember the story.

She put it in the fireplace and tried to burn it. I don't think it worked out.

Yeah but it makes the viewer even harder to come to be sympathetic to him. I will absolutely admit to being a Jaime fan boy, but I thought the murder in the show = the most unjustifiable act he's committed. It's going to be hard to get inside his head, as you've pointed out, without his PoV. Having him murder someone just for self preservation makes it even harder to understand where he's coming from. He always is somewhat pragmatic/family oriented in the book whenever he kills outside of the battlefield (or attempts to with Bran). This just seemed completely off to me. Makes his 'redemption' harder to accept.

  • Arya/Tywin conversations have been the most interesting part of the show. Tywin is a really likeable character in the show.

I like the Jon/Yigritte interaction, but, I don't like the way they had Jon being captured. The book was better, but, I also understand that the show doesn't have the luxury of having Jon/Halfhand wonder by themselves for a while. But, this also raises questions about Jon/Yigritte future.

Finally, we see Jaime. I really wish that they have more of the Jaime/Cat conversation next week.

I am for anything to make Dany interesting.

Ok good, just making sure I'm not crazy and forgetful.

  • Absolutely love this show, haven't read any of the books. Do I or don't I start reading even though I have watched the first two seasons? Just such a big commitment.

Read the books and it will faster than you think. The show is a cliff note of books. There are some major stories surrounding each character that the show haven't explored. Not to mention, they have either left out or haven't introduced some of the other characters.

Does it make the show better or does it ruin the show?

  • I read the books after watching the first season and it hasn't ruined the show for me so far (or the books for that matter). There are some minor differences but nothing major so far.
