I watched American Dragon vs. The Miz from Night of Champions the other day, and they're really pushing Daniel Bryan/Bryan Danielson as a non-murdering version of Chris Benoit.

Which should be awesome, since that means he'll just get to kick people constantly and make them tap. Always good.

They're not pushing him as that, that's what he's always been on the indy scene. It's why the chant associated with him is "You're gonna get your fucking head kicked in".

Former pro wrestler Jorge Gonzaelz died at the age of 44 due to various healthy complications. His Wikipedia page notes that he died on Wednesday. Ovacion Online reports that he had been confined to his home in Colorado in recent years. It was reported last year that he was wheelchair bound and was using a dialysis machine to treat diabetes. Powell's POV: Gonzalez worked as El Gigante in WCW, and then had a run as Giant Gonzaelz in WWE. He was originally drafted by the Atlanta Hawks in the third round of the 1988 draft. When that didn't work out, the story goes that Hawks owner Ted Turner offered him a job in WCW. My condolences go out to his friends and family.

As BWES said, the WWE doesn't make sense. They are counting on the fact that the statute of limitations on his character has long passed so no one will remember him "dying" and instead of vague recollections of him being with undertaker back in the day. Considering that the average WWE fan is like 13 years old, they probably weren't even born then and at least 2 generations of fans passed by since then making sure that no one will remember it.
