  • Finishing a Broad Street from the 14th St. Taylor Gourmet right now.

It's just as good as the other locations. Also, I will now be skipping dinner.

I had typed out a story about how a friend and I went to get pho even though we were hungover and it was one of those hot 100+ degree days out from last July but then I realized that you'd all read that and think "wtf why did he share that?" so I didn't. But it is a good pho day, go for it. One thing that I've found the Baltimore area lacking in my experiences is top-tier pho except for maybe a couple good places in Columbia.

  • baltimore lacks the cultural diversity that DC has, so it's harder to get great ethnic food comparatively.

To be fair, The Helmand is a great Afghan restaurant in Bmore. Ate there before a show at the Ottobar.

I need some new male white friends...guys who go to bars and and can vouch for me when I pick up white women. Tired of going to the black spots or mixed crows on U-st. Also want to try Dupont...

My male white friend and I dominate Dupont on the weekends. It's really spectacular, actually.

I'm surprised no one has brought up Local 16 yet. If I'm going to U Street, I generally go there or Marvin's.

    a. litteri is awesome, but i'm never in that neighborhood. such a weird location for a gourmet italian store.

Yeah - but it wasn't a weird location in 1925 or whenever they opened it. That place is legendary. But it's a lock that area of DC was known as Wop Town back in the day.

    Fast Gourmet is the shizzy

Damn, why did it take me so long to click on this thread.

Fast Gourmet is the truth. Love stopping there on my way to Marvin or Policy, which i'm surprised hasn't been brought up yet. Right on14th and T, it draws a fun diverse crowd on the weekends.

I'll also throw out a recommendation to check out El Centro D.F. on U St. as well. They have some legit tacos and tequila and mezcales out the ass.

I just want to plug 51st State, too. Just a good place to grab a beer. If you younger guys find yourselves heading out to Georgetown, take the Foggy Bottom stop and drop in here on the way there/back. Hit on GW girls who will graduate up to their neck's in debt at the upstairs bar.

51st is a block from my place - true neighborhood bar (rare in DC) with a great beer selection. If you can overlook the whole NY sports thing, it's one of the best/only zero-pretense places in the whole city.

  • Has anyone here besides me been to The Columbia Room? It's pricey, but the drinks are incredible and it's one of the best places I can think of to take a date anywhere in the city. Right up there with Birch and Barley at the top of the "pricey but worth it" category of DC places.

Is anyone doing anything for restaurant week? I did Firefly, Georgia Brown's, Tuscana West, Barcode, and Lincoln last time but I'm looking for some new places to try around the downtown area.

I'll be taking the time to visit my favorite restaurants which aren't participating. Restaurant Week is completely not worth it.

  • You should go to the Gibson for a cool speak easy.

    WTF

2K??? You can't even get lap dances in DC

I can (sorta) understand spending that money, but 2 grand when the girls can't even get within 2 1/2 feet of you is crazy

    TerpPride

  • seriously, though. tiffles, give your review of Stadium. Will white people like it?
