sounds like you were screwed regardless if your interview was at 1030 and they called at 1033?

I would just take a screenshot of your sent box in your email showing where you sent it to the person 40 times

Yeah, two separate things. The interview was for a full-time job. pray

  • Really good piece by Gawande in the New Yorker about End of Life care.

"Spending one’s final days in an I.C.U. because of terminal illness is for most people a kind of failure. You lie on a ventilator, your every organ shutting down, your mind teetering on delirium and permanently beyond realizing that you will never leave this borrowed, fluorescent place. The end comes with no chance for you to have said goodbye or “It’s O.K.” or “I’m sorry” or “I love you.”

People have concerns besides simply prolonging their lives. Surveys of patients with terminal illness find that their top priorities include, in addition to avoiding suffering, being with family, having the touch of others, being mentally aware, and not becoming a burden to others. Our system of technological medical care has utterly failed to meet these needs, and the cost of this failure is measured in far more than dollars. The hard question we face, then, is not how we can afford this system’s expense. It is how we can build a health-care system that will actually help dying patients achieve what’s most important to them at the end of their lives."

My dad was in hospice care (Gilchrist) for 3-4 weeks before he passed and they were amazing! He was in a hospital for a week before that and the difference is night and day. I can't imagine working in a field like that, but we are lucky that there are people out there who do.

  • Same, my father was in a Hospice for about a week. Unfortunately for the last 3-4 days he was drugged out of his mind, the day he died I walked into the room and he though I (his 16 year old son) was a childhood friend he hadn't seen in over 30 years. I have no intention of going out like that, give me a bag of pot, a wheelchair, and some scenery and I'll ride it out in style.

  • My mom volunteered at hospice for a while. Probably one of the best stories of my life is from hospice.

My mom had been working there for about 6 months, and every time I talked to her, she would go on and on about a guy that she was caring for that had a son my age, and how she had really grown a bond with the man.

At the same time, my best friend's father was dying from cancer, and they had elected to put him in hospice for the last few months of his life. When they knew he only had a day or so left, my best friend travelled to Greensboro to spend the last day with his dad. While he was there, my mom came into the room to pay her last respects to the man she'd been bonding with the past few months. My best friend recognized her.

So, my mother cared for my best friend's dad for the balance of the time he was in hospice, and they had become friends...all without knowing that their sons were best friends.

Just a weird random thing that happens.
