No Good Deed Goes...

  • The biggest tragedy in this story is that you didn't get any Deer jerky out of this situation.

this reminds me of a story i recently heard. Family horse needs to be put down, dad and son spend all afternoon digging a big enough hole to bury it in.

dad gets rifle while son spends half an hour getting the old horse to the burial plot. whole family comes out for the farewell cry, then everyone goes inside while dad and son finish the sad task at hand

dad shoots horse.....in the heart......he missed......horse gets up and disappears. They search the woods, go back and get shovels/pick axe/etc, dig new hole, roll/drag/wrestle/ whatever 1200 pound animal into the hole and cover.

That's the most boring, pointless story I've ever heard.

  • In 1988 I was riding in a car in Panama. A guy jumped out in front trying to flag us down. Going maybe 70kmh, we didn't even slow down. His legs got taken out by the left front quarter panel and he flipped up in the air. We never stopped. It was clearly the right decision.

For the record, I have twice hit deer with my car. Neither time could I have avoided the mess. Both times the deer hopped up and ran off, presumably to die in the woods.

i live in carroll county. hitting a deer is one my greatest fears in life. besides the fact that i don't want to risk my life or the lives of anyone in my car, and i don't want to deal with the insurance companies/repairs/etc., i just don't want to kill an animal. it's sad because you cannot really help wild animals. if it were a dog that got hit and it was still alive, you likely would have thrown it into your vehicle and rushed it to an emergency vet, but you cannot do the same for wild animals. i'm sad for the deer that is probably dying a slow, painful death in the woods right now. :(

omg. animals die. it's part of nature.

Try to clean a deer that has been hit by a car. Unless you get lucky, and get one that took a head shot only, there are usually so many bone fragments that the meat is inedible. Don't ask me how I know this.

  • The worst is when there are like 5 deer on the side of the road, and they just stand there while you are honking at them. You know the second you decide to go, they'll just run into your car. F deer, they suck.

Glad you get to watch one get murdered...that's a win-win day for you.

Well, that was the time when all the shit with Manuel Noriega was going down. I am guessing that the guy was trying to stop them for nefarious reasons, and they kept on getting it?

It is amazing what a human is capable of when he feels his life is in danger. shrug

  • My wife just called and said that there are seven deer in our back yard. We pretty frequently get up to 4 of them, but that's easily the most that we've ever seen in our yard. I feel like the deer may be rising up against us.

  • Deer are the scourge of the earth. Every last one needs to be put down. I totaled my car back in college when one jumped out in front of me when i was back home one night. It took me a few years to not freak out when I'd see one on the side of the road. I swear, after I hit it, every time I drove down Rt. 99 at night, I'd see at least two deer. It's like they knew I killed one of their own.

I just embarrassed myself with this post

I thought for sure this story was going to end with the person he woke up on the metro being the driver that killed the deer.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

Yeah, I'm not sure what the stories have to do with each other, except for some attempt to paint OP as some kind of Tifflessistermessianistic figure.

  • I hit a deer on 83 south, south of Hamden at 9am on a Tuesday morning a couple of weeks ago. Car in front of me suddenly slammed on it's brakes and I missed rearending it by a couple of feet and car behind me almost hit me. The deer bounced off the side of my car and ran across the highway.

friend of mine hit a deer a few weeks ago in his week old car, it flipped up, landed on the roof and did 10K in damage. On sunday I was the passenger in a car we were driving at night and two deer came out of nowhere and we missed them by inches.

Deer are going crazy right now with mating and hunting. Has nothing to karma, just horny and scared deer.
