Yeah, that got reviewed earlier in this thread. Strange movie.

It is on one of those movie channels a lot also. My friend told me about it so I made sure to check it out one night

Ichi the Killer is a HORRIBLE movie. A movie made only to offend and with no actual quality.

Audition, on the other hand, is fantastic. Watch that movie without reading ANYTHING about it or even looking at the cover.

I can't say that I understood Audition, other than her being incredibly messed up. Hard Candy, otoh, came through loud and clear. Am I bad because I thought Ellen Page was hot?

  • Our Idiot Brother. Not gut-busting funny, but pretty good.

  • Kill List - a couple of hit men come across some weird shit going down.

Starts slow, but the last half hour is pretty eventful.

  • Red State - movie was definitely not what I expected though after reading its Wiki page, I wish they kept the original ending. Kevin Smith really should stick to comedies as the movie was all over the place.

  • On my last business trip:

50/50 - I really liked it, thought Seth Rogen was not too far over the top and the story I thought was done just right
The Big Year - Steve Martin, Jack Black, Owen Wilson...it was ok, in other words a plane movie that would kill 90 minutes
In Time - The Justin Timberlake sci fi movie...I like the premise, but it was average at best
Anonymous - the whole premise that Shakespeare did not write all or any of the plays, it was ok
Moneyball - very good, thought the acting was superb and they did not screw up the sports side that usually happens in these movies

Getting ready for my flight to Asia, so I will get another 24 hours of movie time coming up over the next two weeks :)

  • Another one who liked Contagion. I really appreciated how all the star performances were pretty muted in service to the story line. Plus felt a little schadenfeude (sic) at seeing Matt Damon looking a little doughy. Paltrow in the flashbacks looking better as she ages.

  • Liar Liar was on last night, and that's a good movie. Just noticed for the first time that Maurice Levy is one of the lawyers in the conference room when Jim Carrey shits all over everyone, made me LOL.

I wouldn't say horrible, but a couple of his movies like Ichi (Gozu, Visitor Q), are made for the sole purpose of pushing the comfort level of the audience. He also has a pretty sadistic way of expressing his overall theme. But that's the interesting part. Even with all the gore and sexual perversion, he still has a message he's trying to convey.

With that said, everyone should watch Sukiyaki Western Django. It's a spaghetti western, with Japanese actors, trying to talk in English. Also, Quentin Tarantino's in the movie. It's pretty hilarious/entertaining.

  • Just watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind again. It's amazing how powerful that movie can be depending on where you are in life.

  • Watched In Time last night. The wife and I both seriously considered baling on it halfway through but stuck with it. It was a decent premise with a story that couldn't progress without plot hole after plot hole.

  • Watched Bridesmaids. Really not all that funny. The fat one was just disgusting.

Warrior was ok for that sort of dumb movie. Can't believe Nolte was nominated for that.

    Friends with benefits

It was decent, except that wouldn't happen if it was Mila Kunis and JTT

We are looking for legitimate movie analysis in this thread, not pussys forced to watch chick flicks, thanks.

It was funny but overrated. You do realize that the "fat one" is the lead in mike and molly right...that was shocking to me.

This movie definitely can elicit emotion depending on your perspecive in live. It caters to the older crowd but I think it is totally relevant and thought-provoking for a mature crowd. Very well done.

  • XMen: First Class has been on. Actually didn't suck, and I hope they make a sequel so we get more of January Jones as Emma Frost.

  • Just watched Midnight in Paris.

Wow, what a fantastic movie. Easily my top of the year so far. Great cinematography, really solid acting, and the soundtrack was perfect.

I also watched Hugo on Friday and it was also excellent. Sort of reminded me of Big Fish in a way

I just embarrassed myself with this post

Saw that this weekend too. Really liked it. Owen WIlson really is perfect playing the roles Woody Allen used to write for himself.

Also watched Take Shelter. Michael Shannon from Boardwalk Empire is the lead. He's a great actor and I wanted to like it but I found it hard to sit through. Incredibly depressing and I am usually okay with that but this was too much.

  • Getting my SATerp on tonight with Humanoids from the Deep. This review drew me in: "An unintentionally hilarious fusing of mutated salmon and full frontal nudity"

Also, Netflix just added some 70s sexploitation films with the amazing Pam Grier, I'll be checking those out this week.

Take Shelter was the best film of 2011.
