Mafia Game Thread (Mafia wins)

    I don't think there's much to read into the night kill. If I had to guess the mafia were just annoyed with him and didn't want to deal with that for the rest of the game. They have enough of a numerical edge to get away with a relatively wasted kill.

    WTF kind of idiot mafia kills someone who they thought would be distracting? Distracting doofusses are like mother's milk for mafia.

    Although I guess they could have thought that Money was one of the specials for some stupid reason.

  • Long day. Let me tell you how fun it is to have to deal with crazy **** all day at work all while waiting for your LSAT scores to come back. To date, this is the longest anyone has had to wait for LSAT scores in the last 20 years of the test. Fun times.

    Alright, that aside done with, I don't think the 'look at quiet people' is applicable for round one. You have no good leads, and personally, despite playing a few games here, I don't know anyone's playing style outside of Hammer, ryala, and Raise.

    I agree that Raise's post was a little much, but isn't deserving of a pile up here.

    I agree that quiet people during Day 1 aren't necessarily or automatically suspect, especially with an early deadline, but we can't allow mafia to just sit back and not contribute as the days go by. Quiet mafia win games and quiet Civs lose. I'm also not getting the rush on Raise, but I don't have anything else to go on either.

    Mafia got rid of someone who played so badly that it was pretty much obvious that they were a confirmed civ. If no one screams "civ special," then you might as well get rid of a confirmed civ-- and after day 1 it looked more likely than not that doofus and toogs were probably civs.

    Toogs is pretty easy to frame later on, so if I were mafia (and I usually am) I'd probably leave him around and kill someone else, because it won't be too long before toogs gets lynched just because he hasn't been killed yet. Doofus may end up sticking around and being the deciding vote or at least give some kind of inadvertent help to the civs, so you might want to get rid of him.

    I wouldn't have actually killed doofus if I were mafia (I'd kill the smart players even if some n00b had pretty much cleared himself), but that's what I would imagine the thought process was for mafia.

    Still catching up but I couldn't disagree with this post more. Mafia got rid of someone they thought was the cop or BG. It's a play that makes complete sense to me.

    I always support going after quiet people. I also don't like Smiley or Toogs. I'll vote after I get caught up.

    Yeah, I guess two votes and a comment from GS isn't really a rush, but my point is I don't see the issue with Raise during his Day 2 posts. I was more troubled by his single Day 1 post 10 minutes before the deadline piling on Puma, but in hindsight I don't think a mafia would have done that when 2 civs (Puma and Money) were basically neck and neck.

  • Ok, money played a very good civ first round. He got people talking and at least one mafia member to think he was a special. Perhaps unintended, but great play.

    Anyway, money became self-preservational at the top of my page two. After that only Puma and JMan voted for him.

    Obviously Puma (civ) found him annoying but perhaps JMan thought he was a Cop/BG and was hoping for free info.

  • I don't think gsterp is the play here. I dont think mafia comes out and defends the night hit like he's doing... it draws too much attention for him. That said, I still don't like Jman or parlay. **JMAN** for a similar reason to shiny. I don't like the vote he made, but as I said before, I'm more concerned that Jman was just trying to piggyback on Toogs rationale rather than him trying to get info out of that vote.

  • I'm cool with taking one for the team. Getting rid of money was worth it. The only rationales that I have are that (1) I don't trust people that were around right at the deadline and (2) one of Smiley, Toogs, or Ryala have to be mafia if they survived the first night. I'll vote for who I think is the most dangerous. **RYALA**

  • JMan, assuming that for once Smiley is not mafia...why would mafia eliminate Smiley night 1? I think people would eventually come around to thinking Smiley must be mafia again. So I could see mafia keeping him alive and figure he'll get lynched eventually.

    I do find it curious that one of the other two was not the target (especially since killing the other person in the tie eliminated the point of toogs breaking the tie to save a teammate).

    JMan, I'm not following your logic on #2. Why would one of those 3 have to be mafia if they survived the first night? Not saying you're wrong, just not following based on votes or posts that I've seen.
