Loved it. Lane pummeling Pete was great. MY favorite line was chewing gum on his pubis.
Also loved the madam thinking Don liked men.

There are many things regarding the Pete Campbell situation that justified Lane beating the crap out of him: his always-out-of-style power royal blue suit; his "just turn the water pressure all the way up" solution for a dripping faucet; his behind the back snaking of the modern day Mark Twain, Kenny Cosgrove. But Pete's worst atrocity tonight, BY FAR, was that tie he wore at his own dinner party. I feel certain that if Lane had seen that tie, he would NOT have let Don pull the blinds to shield the office from the beatdown he was about to give Pete.
If you're so smart, why aren't you rich?

How could the same Lane who got his ass kicked by his old-as-dirt dad beat the crap out of Pete? Seems like both of these guys were better equipped to slip and hit their heads on the conference table.
But what an awesome episode. I loved how it was building up that everyone had a reason to hate Pete (Ken, Don, Roger, Lane, the cosmic cruelty of life, etc.) but never could you predict it would turn out that way.
It's interesting how they keep tweaking with the Pete character. I really thought they were maturing him in the past two seasons, starting with the end of Season 2 when he sold out Duck to Don. But I guess what the writers are saying is no matter how important Pete is becoming to the firm, he is hardwired to be patrician dweeb.

BTW Joan taking Lane's kiss like she knew he had to get it out of him, staring at him like "okay, you got it once, now never again", calmly walking to the door and opening it, then calmly sitting back on the couch and not acting like anything happened was spectacular

Was Peggy and Ken's "pact" ever referred to on screen? I remember them working well together to land Topaz last season, but I don't remember any specific reference to a pact and was little confused as to why Pegs was all FEELINGSCAUGHT! about Ken and the guy at the diner.
BTW I love Elisabeth Moss's little smirks and other cute facial expressions.

yeah I think there was one when he was brought in during like season 3 or something.
Or i could just be filling in holes but IIRC she was bitter about him leaving the first time

Tactically, Pete's great flaw was not coming after Lane with a flurry of punches. Instead, he him hard and then backed off. An old guy like that is going to be short on stamina, so you just have to finish him quickly. Pete gave Lane too much time to regroup.
The reaction of everyone to the fight was nearly perfect.
So can we assume Jaguar is completely off the table now? Bummer.
