I wish Romney would just say I'm not going to release anything....I don't give a damn how much he makes, donates, etc and won't vote for any Republican who tries to (or did) make this an issue

I was confused by Mitt's point. Did he mean that's a good thing, "I support the 0% capital gains tax also"? Or does he mean that's a bad thing, "I would pay 0 in tax with your crazy 0% capital gains tax"? I would think he would support 0% capital gains tax (being a republican), but stating that "I would pay 0 taxes" is the argument against 0% capital gains tax.

He was trying to get Newt to validate his tax bracket being justified.
Mitt is clearly more prepared with attack lines and positioning. He can hurt Newt with Freddie Mac.
Quiet crowd definitely helps Mitt.

Newt attacks not as effective when no crowd to cheer them on. Mittens is salty, making headway but how many people understand all the inside baseball stuff?

Mitt is definitely more aggressive, but his public speaking pales in comparison to Newt's and that continues to shift the balance I think.

I think it is an argument against it. People are pointing out that Newt's tax plan is pretty radical. Mitt's plan is GOP-friendly but definitely isn't radical. So I think he's trying to go for a little bit of the "tax the rich" sentiment that is out there without saying it.

Mitt eviscerating Newt tonight....did not expect that. And Paul, I don't think its all that complex. People understand that Romney is casting Newt as a Washington influence peddler and Newt's looking awkward and uncomfortable - for him.

Comments about Santorum here are funny. I disagree with him on essentially everything, but I can't help but kind of admire the guy. He still seems more genuine to me than Mitt, Newt OR Barack...it's just that he's genuine about being a completely ass-backwards thinker.

How long was Williams slated to be the moderator? I wouldn't be surprised if NBC had David Gregory originally lined up but subbed him out because he's too easy for Newt to play hardball with. He's also awful. Brian Williams won't get John Kinged.

Yes, the Obama adminstration will note this in case that Newt would become nominee, to not agree to any debates where there is a live audience, unless they are undecided voters. Newt clearly connects with voters and gets energy from them when they hoot and holler when he says anything angry. In fhe first segement Newt looked very tired. Getting no energy from the audience.
