1. I'm not sure how comparing anything being said to a view that was roundly criticized says much about Ron Paul. More importantly, I'm not saying Ron Paul sounded like that person.
2. The statement I quoted was actually said by Chamberlain about Hitler. By assuming I was quoting Ron Paul, you essentially proved my point regarding that comparison.

Fair enough. I guess my point is that in today's political climate, especially post-9/11 and post two wars in the Middle East, America isn't exactly ready to elect someone who is perceived to have a laissez faire attitude towards crazy foreign governments arming themselves.

Good luck explaining the nuances of Iran's internal politics to American voters.

The last week and a half has brought little change in the standings for the Iowa Republican caucus: Ron Paul continues to lead Mitt Romney by a modest margin, 24-20. Newt Gingrich is in 3rd at 13% followed by Michele Bachmann at 11%, Rick Perry and Rick Santorum at 10%, Jon Huntsman at 4%, and Buddy Roemer at 2%.

Romney is a lot like John Kerry and his policies are probably close to Kerry as well. The Republicans are getting slaughtered either way. Maybe Ron Paul if he is given a fair chance can stand toe to toe with Obama. He's a lot likelier to get independent voters than Mitt Romney is.

I think I said it in the other thread too, but I don't think Paul goes 3rd party. He'd be signing his son's political death warrant. Angry Republican voters would primary Rand because of his dad's decision to kill the GOP's chances to unseat Obama.

Eh - I doubt it. Conservatives love Rand, and there isn't any room to his right to run a primary challenger. I'm sure they'd find a way to get payback on someone, but I doubt that will play into the decision making. I think if it is Mittens or Newt he'd give it some serious thought.

Talk about killing two birds with one stone. OWS is painted as a terrorist organization and thanks to hanging Chads, Ron Paul can kiss a top 3 finish goodbye. This also takes care of Buddy Roemer who spoke with the OWS people.
The Dems will love this. They can bring up the Florida recounts to rally their wavering supporters for next year.
