Handgun Debate

  • bbpgtr said...

Anyways, I was completely and totally sincere, as I always am in gun self-defense matters, in that his friend could have indeed still been alive that very moment had he been able to defend himself adequately, and that's just an undeniable fact no matter what you or any other anti-2nd Ammendment nuts say about it.

No offense, but you have no idea about my position on gun control...

BTW, the Feds will definitely get involved here, especially if the state/governor don't step up ASAP.

Well, that was quick (although not really, since this happened last month, but once this became such a big news story, the feds had to take a look I think...)

Way to shut him right up! Nothing like using a person's time of sorrow as a time to make a political point!

It sounds like the 'grieving' friend is the one who brought up gun control.

You just keep right on ignoring the facts by labeling them 'cliches'. Thank goodness your stupid insanity really doesn't matter.

And your last sentence is nothing short of retardation. A handgun is USELESS for home defense? LMAO!!!! More than one Baltimore City cop has recommended a handgun for home protection and I KNOW they're a lot more credible than you'll ever be about the issue.

seeing as how my best friend is a Baltimore City cop, and I come from a blue collar neighborhood where people either had to join the police force or military to get out, I think I know how cops feel about handgun ownership. I have family members that work the Force. I can guarantee you that most cops are on the other side of the fence. They would much rather you did not own a handgun. It's pretty obvious why they don't want you to own a handgun, and it has nothing with enforcing a police state or wanting to see guns in the hands of the criminals. It definitely has nothing with wanting to take your freedoms away. Yes handguns are dogshit for home defense. Only a myopian would argue otherwise.

  • Yeah, I don't think I've met anyone in law enforcement (or otherwise) whose first suggestion for home protection would be a handgun. There are some good handguns you can get for that purpose, but I'd imagine most people would recommend a shotgun over a handgun for home defense.

They're ahead of every device on the planet other than a shotgun. Good argument though.

I think everyone agrees with that. It seems as if he wanted to kill that kid.

I don't think that he saw the kid and then hatch some plot because he wanted to murder him,

I think he honestly thought the kid was one of the ones who was breaking into houses in his neighborhood (and for all we know, maybe he was acting suspicous and did have his hand in his waistband) and instead of stopping after doing the right thing (calling the police) he goes into full cowboy mode and confronts a kid he feels is armed and holds him at gunpoint. Not advised but if the kid actually was up to no good, you can hold him there until the police arrive so "the asshole doesn't get away." Then he goes into full retard mode when it must be obvious that the kid isn't a threat to him, is screaming for his life and deserves to be murdered.

  • Listen to the tape again. He was trying to paint this kid as some criminal. "They ______ always get away with it" The poor kid was running for his life and was 100yds from his father's house.

I know what he said, I just don't think he made that all up because he felt like murdering an innocent kid that night.

Like I said, I think it's more likely that the kid was acting somewhat suspicious (moreso than just being black), the dumbass didn't know how to appropriately handle the situation and now should go to jail for murder.

According to Chris Tutko, the director of the National Neighborhood Watch program, there are about 22,000 registered watch groups nationwide, and Zimmerman was not part of a registered group, which police were not aware of at the time of the incident.

It seems like when the kid put his hoodie on and started to run, Zimmerman probably thought he was up to something. How could the police department just let this dude go without charging him. Has there been any word from them?

I agree that it's unlikely the guy hatched this sinister plot regarding the 911 call and was already planning to murder the him, but what in the world would give you the impression that it was "likely the kid was acting somewhat suspicious"? You're inclined to give the benefit of the doubt to the clearly insane person?

I don't think he is doing that. I think he is trying to figure out was was going through this dudes mind. I was attempting to do the same thing. Its obvious the killer had preconceived notions that led him to do this. I think everyone agrees he was 100% wrong and stupid. I probably would have done the same thing if I thought someone was chasing me.

I think few would argue that the guy who called 911 every week and carried a concealed weapon while patrolling the neighborhood had a screw loose and a hard on for criminals I think it's odd to just assume this man wouldn't have initiated this course of action unless the kid was doing something suspicious. I think it's highly plausible that he was just a fucking nutjob looking for action and he saw a black kid he didn't recognize walking down the street and the gears in his tiny brain started smoking. Baldwin specifically said he was likely doing something suspicious besides just being black, and I find that an odd assumption to make based on the facts of the story is all.

Edit: no hate on Baldwin, just found it a little surprising.
