Great Whites send Cape swimmers running

LOL "Jaaaysuuuus Chrrroiiiist it's a shoooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaark!"

Definitely a redfish. There's rampant internet speculation it's in Myrtle Beach, but there's a zero percent chance that's accurate. There are no inlets between Cherry Grove and Murrells Inlet. And I know each and every house on the water in Murrells Inlet and CG, and that video shows neither. If it's the Carolinas, it could be the ICW up around Southport or maybe in SC the ICW near Bulls Bay. For all anyone knows at this point, it could be NC to Texas based on the hillbilly accents.

Either way... big GD bull shark.

Edit... I can kinda sorta picture this creek being on the back side of Cherry Grove (NC/SC border) but I dunno

You're close. I believe the house is 311 rice circle, north myrtle beach. It is cherry grove though.

    Potomac

Cue the 'Jaws' theme: Fishermen are catching 8-foot sharks in the Potomac River

Willy Dean was on the Potomac River in a 22-foot skiff Tuesday morning when he realized there was something both abnormal and enormous in his net. It was a deadly 8-foot-1 bull shark , a 300-pound-plus killer that had likely been feasting on cownose rays at Cornfield Harbor, just off the shores of...

Jaaaysuuus Chrroooist. At low tide that creek is mud. I've not really seen it at high tide lately but I can't imagine it being more than 4 feet. That address 100 percent looks right on Google satellite... so... the shark swam in Hog Inlet, right past all the fat tourists. Proceeded almost 2 miles behind Cherry Grove, abused chick's 3 pound redfish, and peaced out of the inlet before low tide.

I consider myself to be in tune with the comings and goings of sea creatures, but a shark that size being in CG Inlet completely and totally blows my mind.

Seriously, everyone Google map 311 rice circle 29582 and prepare to have your mind blown.

I've become a bit of a shark nut in recent years and was surprised to find out that Bull sharks (the MOST aggressive and dangerous shark to man) often swims up rivers and tributaries to lay its eggs.

All those years of waterskiing in the Severn river and I thought the only dangerous thing was the literal poo in the water.

Was a shark nut as a kid and read about everything there was to read. Better believe I thought about those bastards when skiing in the potomac later.

Australian divers fend off great white shark with spearguns, knives

When Nathan Podmore and Dave Richards plunged into the ocean off West Australia recently, the last thing they expected to find between them and their small boat was a 12-foot great white shark. The freedivers had planned on spearing some fish -- Richards wore a head-cam to record the experience -- but instead videotaped a scene showing the divers fending off the circling shark with spearguns and knives. The incident occurred off Drummond Cove. The pair told the West Australian..

  • i said i would post about about some things I've done in the Bahamas so here goes.

1- The other day we did a Caribbean reef shark dive. Basically the sharks hear/feel our boats in the water and roll up in big numbers. we throw out a buoy and anchor it and then all hop into the water. We then chum (throw in a bunch of fish chunks and bait) and get them to come in close.

On this last dive we got 10 reef sharks and 1 blacknose shark to show up. The reef sharks were about 5-8 feet in length and the blacknose was maybe 2 and 1/2 feet.

After we ran out of chum we are allowed to go swim around with the sharks. Which is FUCKING AMAZING. It is really wild to be swimming with and following these sharks and knowing that they don't care about you at all. I swimming about 6 inches above a 7 foot shark for 20 seconds before i had to resurface and breathe. One of the coolest things I will ever do.

    2- Longlines.

Every month we set out longlines (a 150 meter line with hooks every 10 meters and floats). We bait them with barracuda and whatever else we might have. We leave them in the water overnight and check them every 4 hours for 24 hours.

I was lucky enough to be on the 6 am check, known as the "money check." And it was. We caught one 10 foot tiger shark, a pup tiger shark (it was really quite adorable), and a blacktip shark. All were released alive and well.

The 10 foot tiger shark was pretty hearty so we got to get in the water with it after we tagged it. When it was still tied to the boat we got to hold onto it and take pictures with it. I cannot describe the feeling of holding onto such a powerful and beautiful wild animal.

Still in the water, we untied and released the shark and followed it until it swam off into the blue. Moral of the story...sharks are incredible. People misunderstand them. Oh, and I am having a great great time.
