Our bar scene is a disgrace. I've been to shitty small schools in the middle of no where that have better bar scenes than College Park.

I think that is just rumor. My friends hung out there often senior year. In general, it is just more of a stoner crowd than a frat crowd. More relaxed.

We really need someone on this board to step up and play the Cy Tolliver role. It must be someone who isn't afraid to buy off the CP/PG-Police (should be pretty easy) and then strike fear into the heart of anyone on the liquor board who stands in their way.

Students don't know how good they have it when they can just hop on the Green Line and go to real, decent bars in U Street, Chinatown etc.
Those areas were garbage when I was a student but I assume most will just stay inside the College Park bubble.

While this is true, DC bars tend to be more expensive and not as attractive to "poor college students"

I should buy a few school buses and have a shuttle service that leave every 30 minutes from CP and go to Annapolis, Baltimore and DC.
Charge $5-10 a head per ride. Vinyl only for easy cleanup.
It could work right?

There used to be buses that went from CP to DC for specific bars/clubs back in my day. They don't do that anymore? Good opportunity to meet DC college chicks

Yea it's really fun leaving bars at 11:45 on a thursday night to catch the last metro, IMO

DC cabs are cheap as shit to get back to CP if you split them with enough people.
At least they used to be, the last time I cabbed it from DC to CP was like 8 years ago...

Seriously? DC cabs are cheap. I also wasn't exclusively talking about Thursdays...

DC bars dont take fake ids. Turtle was an under-21 bar. The consequence of this is going to be a huge spike in muggings of people walking back from house parties drunk at 2am and lots of people getting busted for smuggling alcohol into dorms.

Please. The Lupo's spot was closed for my junior and senior years, at least partially, and there was no huge spike in muggings or anything stupid. Unless you think Santa Fe was a natural buffer.

You can already see a difference in the amount of packs that are walking down Knox/Hartwick looking for a party. It has to lead to an increase in crime

My point is underage kids/freshman will now be diverted to parties behind the bars instead of walking to Turtle which is an on campus route...thus leading to more people walking on Knox/Hartwick/wherever.
