How would your life change if gays were allowed to marry?

i don't think it would have any impact on my life.

Is your argument that you shouldn't have an opinion on anything that doesn't impact your life?

you're a good and reasonable poster. i consider myself to be the same. this discussion will probably be completely useless.

i believe that men and women were created to complement each other and are bound to each other through marriage. men marrying men and women marrying women doesn't fit the model that i believe was created so i don't support it.

you probably think everything i wrote was complete nonsense. when two people come from totally different starting points, the argument doesn't really work. with where you start on the whole issue, i doubt there is any logical flaw in your position/opinion. i just don't work from the same starting place.

if i was an elected official, my vote on issues of gay marriage would be based on my beliefs. if that bothered people, they wouldn't vote for me again (or wouldn't have voted for me in the first place). if they did agree, they'd continue to vote for me.that's how the system is supposed to work.

eh, it's not like i'm suggested we should allow housing/employment/etc. discrimination.

I was against gay marriage for a very long time, mostly because I thought it a self-aggrandizing goal for people that claim to be independant thinkers, proud to be anti-establishment, and determined to poke a finger in the eye more than a fight for social acceptance.

Now I don't care. Anybody that gets married without the intention of reproducing and raising offspring is an idiot and deserves all of the misery that they incur.
