Love that course. My second best round ever (80) was there. Hope the winds are calm for you.

I'm having golf dreams pretty regularly. It's time for spring.

Leaving Tuesday for our annual, Ryder-cup style golf trip. 24 of us...going to Palmetto Dunes in Hilton Head for the 2nd year in a row. I've had 'golf-tripitis' for a week.

There are times when I go to a turf range and cannot hit an iron for the life of me. I don't know what it is. I do the exact same thing you described with the low slice. No problems out of the course; typically mid 80s.

I know hitting off turf isn't ideal all the time, I just wish I had a range I could go to that's grass instead of mats (I go to East Potomac, live in Arlington).

  • tonight for the first time ever i successfully completed the 2more launch monitor challenge. the challenge is

3 shots out of 9 within a 15 foot square at 115 yards (only needed 4 shots)
3 shots out of 9 within a 15 foot square at 130 yards (only needed 5 shots)
3 shots out of 9 within a 15 foot square at 150 yards (completed on my last shot overall)
6 out of 16 tee shots in a 20 yard wide fairway (completed on my last "tee" shot)

i rotate clubs with the following pattern: 3 iron shots, 2 tee shots, 3 iron shots at a different yardage, 2 tee shots, etc.

36 dollars? Jesus. We went in early April a couple years back and I swear we were around $130? Nice course with some cool views. Windy as shit though.

No no you misunderstood his post. He clearly said it was 51 dollars on Friday and 54 dollars on Saturday.

Congrats, Sounds like you are really putting that thing to good use. Is it really accurate? Do you feel as if you really hit it to 15 feet when it shows you did?

Had my best score ever (78) on the Arthur Hills course at Palmetto Dunes in August. I love Hilton Head.

I wasn't a big fan of the Fazio course, but I really enjoyed the Arthur Hills and RTJ courses.

  • I'm watching honda classic highlights dying to play but my course is still closed for snow melt. I'll hopefully sneak in 9 holes sometime this week; haven't played since 12/1 and i'm sick of putting and chipping the little wiffle golf balls. hopefully i'll hit the range tomorrow, mid 40's and cloudy.

Yes, it's accurate. I know where it goes and when I look over that's what it says.

  • 2more: took my new 3 wood to the teaching range yesterday, cranked on the heater and hit some shots and they were flying like they did the first time I took it out, not great but distance was good. I then changed the setting, added .75 degree to make it 14.25 and put it to the draw setting. It was a magic moment from the 1st hit. Went out today and joined up with a 4some, 2 guys were getting buried so they made me their 3rd player and we proceeded 3 on 2. The 2some rues the day, we (mostly me) completely flipped the match. At least 1 of those guys will be ordering Titleist 913 driver and 3 wood this week, if you know what I'm saying.

  • the adjustable club thing is awesome. i have mine at C4, which is .75 more loft, and the higher fade setting. i set my driver once and have never changed it. i think i've messed with the 3 wood a couple times.

i played nine holes yesterday at timbers: as we all know, golf is a humbling game!

i've been practicing great, playing great (shot 77 in the 40 degree + wind + rain last saturday), and even got off to a decent start yesterday. on the 4th tee i lost a ball and had to hit a third because i didn't expect to find the second. on the 5th tee my ball plugged somewhere and i never found it. on the 6th tee i lost my first ball. 7th tee lost first ball. 8th tee lost ball. that was all the balls i had! i wandered through the woods on #9 until i found one. then i played the par 5 from the women's tees and made birdie. i was just way way way out of sorts and i have no idea why. if i had gone back today i probably would have been like 2 over or something.

  • Anyone demo the RBZ 2 yet? Golf Galaxy has a promo going on where you can compare your fairway wood to the RBZ 2 and they give you a golf ball for every yard gained, up to a dozen. I came out with my dozen golf balls and was very impressed by the club. I averaged something like 22 extra yards compared to my G15 3-wood.

  • Rum was cold and windy on Friday, painful on the 9th tee, but still fun. Saturday was a great day.

The greens had just been aerated, so that was disappointing, but the rest of the course was fantastic as always. I will be back in November for the other half of our semi-annual golfing trip.

  • I know folks here played this weekend?

Our gambler group convened on Sunday for the 1st time in many weeks, and the last 2 times we played I was the big winner pocketing a big wad. Got paired w/ a guy who I had been partners with several times back and we didn't fare too well together that time. I got off to a blistering start and we won the front 4 and 2 and had a good lead in the "trash" money. They won the 1st 3 holes on the back, and my partner was really getting down on himself, so I gave him a pep talk and basically told him that it's never over and don't give up. After the front 9 I was sure I was coasting to win the "indo" bet amongst all the groups, but after I went double-triple-bogie-double to start the back I had given up on the indo prize and was just trying to preserve our "inside bet". My partner then went on to have 2 key holes that won us an extra $24 bucks in trash and I strung a series of pars together so that the nassau broke even but we won the $24 in trash bets. When we went in the bar and gave the group leader our score card, we won the 1 ball bet and I had tied the indo - turns out most of the other guys were real rusty and the pin spots were extra tough, most every hole had the pin in a spot we'd never seen before.
