Most recent run of GFS now shows storm retrograding into Maine, which I believe is the first run so far that it has actually come back to hit the U.S. There is also some cold air on the back side of the storm. The model tossed out over a foot of snow in some areas and a 3-6 inch stripe into parts of Central PA. It looks like, if the storm were to hit further south like the Euro continues to indicate, that it's possible that stripe would shift south into our area.

What model is that from?

That looks like the Canadian model. It basically shows a huge storm slamming into Boston. For here, it would just mean some heavy rain and wind, but it would be one of the best case scenarios. For Boston, it would be very damaging.

Pepco customers should not be rooting for this.

If this pans out (and we'll have a good idea by Friday), it's going to be dangerous and you're going to lose power.

It will probably be all rain, although the back end will be super cold. It's like a death trap -- soak everything in water and then freeze.

I just want to re-iterate if this pans out the way the euro just showed it, that would be a cat 3/4 hurricane coming up the Chesapeake bay, with temps in the 30's, and a full moon, causing massive flooding.

The Euro was pretty ridiculous.

A guy I know has done a bunch of research on the effects of a catostrophic Katrina type storm on NYC, that people say can't happen. He's of the belief it can happen and will be a complete nightmare. Does this storm have the potential to be NYC's Katrina?
