Phatboy if you had any balls I'd meet you at the AFA Boxing gym and have Coach Weichers put some gloves on us.
i liked the movie, but i was listening to a comedian's podcast last week and he was tearing it apart saying how dumb it was. i will try and find the clip, he made some great points bitching about how a little girl could make the jump in the prison but the batman couldnt do it those first few tries, and how he went from broken back to crushing push ups in a few weeks. it tore the movie apart for a solid five minutes and was tough to disagree with, ill see if i can find it.
this board is horrible. I'ma be forced to take a hiatus if this keeps up.
He couldn't make the jump because the harness he was wearing wouldn't allow him to do it. It was only after he took off the harness that he was able to make the jump.
also, what an attention whore. There's an unpopular opinions thread on the first page.
My revelation that I don't like crabs or the MD flag was bigger than this trite.
haha, i know and i get it. i enjoyed the movie, was just saying there are other people who agree that with toogs that the movie is garbage.
Definitely should have posted it there it seems.
I was so excited to see it and was really disappointed. It could have been one of those things that I got too geared up for and there was no way it could live up to that.
I already did. I thought the first two movies were ok, the third was abysmal. And inception sucked.
For those of you shitting on TDKR, do you also hate fun and puppies?
Batman Fan Boi
I mean it defintely wasn't an amazing movie or anything.
That has nothing to do with optimism or pessimism, buddy.
They took a much more comic book-ish route than TDK. It was much closer to BB than TDK. It was still plenty entertaining. TDK was just in its own world as a comic book movie that also kicks ass as a stand alone crime film. To call TDKR "terrible" is just wrong.
I literally laughed out loud.
Loved it. Went to IMAX opening night, and that's where it really shines. Is it a masterpiece story or film? No. But as a cinematic experience, I can't remember enjoying myself as much as I did, and that would still ring true for any repeat showings if it came back to IMAX.
It isn't TDK, but I agree with whoever said that TDK is slightly overrated because of how much Ledger's performance is able to carry it. That said, both movies are still the benchmark for super hero movies and comic book adaptations, and that's really the prism within which you have to look at it all. TDK Rises definitely requires you to suspend disbelief more than TDK, but it does so with some really cool shit, quality acting, and it's packaged with far more intelligence than you'll get out of Spiderman or Avengers.
In general I prefer Batman, but The Avengers was 5 times more entertaining than TDKR.
My fundamental problem is with Batman spending all of his time riding around in a spaceship. C'mon son, you can't be a real and gritty, dark avenging angel when all you do is ride around in a spaceship.
The Bane voice was also distractingly high-pitched horrible.
I think if they had fixed those two issues I would have enjoyed it much more.
I mean, Ra's Al-Ghul and Scarecrow were sneaky little ninja bad guys, sliding away when the fight got tough and plotting in the background. Joker was a supreme schemer and an absolute snake. All his mannerisms were serpentine and he was just a total creep. He just glided around.
Bane was a wrecking ball. He was smart and could plot well, but shit...he just ran you over when it came time for the action. Like I said before--Joker is your franchise QB but Bane is the Combine freak.
There's a place for that in the Rogues' Gallery. I liked it as a good change of pace from the series' usual villains.
"And I try to har-mo-nize with songs the lonesome sparrow sings...
There are no kings inside the Gates of Eden."
Bane was great for the most part. Like I said before the only thing that I didn't like was the "look at us re-engineering society! lol j/k we're gonna nuke ourselves" bit. I thought translation of Bane to the big screen was incredibly well done.
I guess this is it, I really don't get jazzed up for super-hero or comic book movies. They just seem to try and one up each other on how 'big' they can make the movie. I guess really cool explosions and fight scenes are ok, but when that's the basis for the movie, it gets old real quick for me.
Eh, I think you are overplaying how much they use that, and I think it works well in the initial scene where the cops are chasing him, and in the climax. I can see why it rubbed you the wrong way, though.
Perfect example of people whipping themselves into such a frenzy prior to a release that it's almost impossible for them to admit it wasn't good.
Perfect example of a pretentious 'overrated' movement making it underrated.

I agree with this. The same thing actually happened on the old board with TDK.
