The bands that sucked ass, but because of the Annette's in the world, just wouldn't go away?
To clarify, bands that I threw out there but definitely open for discussion.
Foreigner in the 70's
Bon Jovi in the 80's
And this answer pissed everyone off but I'll stick with it: Pearl Jam in the 90's.
*admittedly, Pearl Jam is not even close to the correct answer, but Last Kiss pissed me off sooo much.

Uhh, wtf, I tried posting this in the off topic board and got the board is down message, now it's here?
Nobody is/was as awful as Nickelback. Nobody.
You are seriously retarded for comparing Nickelback to Pearl Jam, and I probably haven't listened to any Pearl Jam since the first three albums, so I am hardly some superfan
The answer for the 90s is probably Matchbox 20

My F-I-L says Aerosmith is vastly overrated.
The 90s are tough for me to pick because it's not like there were super popular rock groups on the level that there were in the 70s and 80s.
I don't think Pearl Jam is the right answer, and I don't think MB20 got to the level of popularity that Bon Jovi did in the 80s.
Yeah, PJ is an awful, awful call there.
I'd say Creed, but that is only for the latter half of the 90s.
Im ready for aa 5th of vodica to end my feels.
80's: Bon Jovi is hard to argue
90's: Creed (late 90's but still)
but Nickelback is on its own level of suck. Also, here is the first wave of hate...Pearl Jam was also one of the most influential bands in modern rock; can't even fathom that sentence with Nickelback. Please listen to the soundtrack of Into the Wild and then try to tell me that Eddie Vedder is comparable to Chad fucking Kroeger
Aerosmith pre Done With Mirrors is not over-rated.
couldn't Aerosmith be the answer to all 3 decades?
Hey, let's be fair here
It's matchbox twenty
Seriously that's probably a solid choice, though they tended more towards the pop side of rock. I'm trying to think of the right combination of songs sounding the same, popularity, longevity, and crappiness. I'd say Limp Bizkit but they were early 2000s. Would Creed count as 90s?
80s I'd go more Def Leppard
Creed is the answer, close the thread.
Can't believe I missed it.
Also, lol at Toys in the Attic, Rocks, and Get Your Wings being overrated.
what about Collective Soul in the 90s?
1990s is Dave Matthews Band.
pearl jam is actually a good band.
bon jovi as well, to be compared to the nickleback hacks. living on a prayer and you give love a bad name will get an entire bar singing along for eternity.
matchbox 20 isn't a bad call, and i have never bought any of their music, but i respect rob thomas. dude can sing and is a pretty good songwriter. how about third eye blind as a 90's comparable.

I don't think third eye blind or collective soul are on the same level as Bon Jovi. I mean Bon Jovi were MASSIVE in the 80s.
I think Creed and DMB are good choices.
I hate DMB, but I'll give credit for having some talented musicians a little depth to their music....Nickelback is so atrociously bland.
Pearl Jam has this passionate following from guys born between '75 - '80. Their first few albums were very good but they dropped off hard in the second half of the 90's.
Bob Dylan in the 60s
Forgot about Creed. Holy hell was that painful.
Lol DMB's stuff in the 90's was great...I don't think Nickelback had any period where they had music that was bearable
Hard to argue with Bon Jovi and I would also includ Def Leppard
DMB is all terrible all the time.
Yeah, Creed is a better choice for the 90s than Matchbox 20
I also take issue with Bon Jovi, as they have some catchy, memorable songs. They don't have the musical talent of Pearl Jam, but they were not the worst of that decade. Def Leppard and Motley Crue were pretty decent in their own right. Some group like Poison is a better answer to me
