I don't remember the last time I drank, probably one Sunday early in the NFL season. Not bragging or anything, I wish I could still drink like I used to. Alcohol's negative effects seem to be amplifying for me as I get older, making it not worth it most of the time,

I don't know what you mean, but it had the cadence of a joke.
I drink regularly. Several nights a week. But, like others, it's usually no more than two beers or a shot and a beer a night. When we have company over for dinner, or go to someone else's place for dinner I might have 4 or 5 drinks. Usually just two drinks a night though.
I'm sick and at home. Been thinking about having scotch and hot tea later. I'm not sure that's the right combination but it sure sounds good to me right now.
I really hate this mentality. Drinking =/= fun if its just not that fun for you. Maybe there is something else about you that might be "boring" but drinking more often wont necessarily change that.
Not to sound like a high school health teacher, but if you can't lead a fun/interesting life without drinking then you need to discover some new shit.
Yeah WTF sully!
baseball season is hardest, b/c there's a game on every night. not saying i need to drink for every game, but c'mon now ... it's summer, it's nice out, sundresses, baseball, cold brews on hot days.
i can go at least 3-4 days without having anything with no problem. body feels better, wallet feels better, etc.
Normally I only have about 2-3 beers from Monday - Thursday, but drink on the weekends for sure. Not as much as I used to though.
Longest stretch is probably about 5 days off.
"I'll fuck your face", "Shut up, you're fat!", and other IHJG responses to girls yelling at him to stop belching out back at Country Club have become mainstays of our group of friends' lexicon.
Agreed. Some of my best friends, and my girlfriend, don't drink at all. I don't find them uninteresting or not fun. Some of them even come out when we go on benders just to see the spectacle and reaffirm their choice not to drink.
Alcohol for me at this point is more about quality than sheer quantity. While I still get drunk fairly regularly, I rarely drink to get blotto anymore. Last night I probably had 10 or so Sierras while watching the Syracuse and Maryland games, which for me, is enough get a good buzz going and not be legal to drive, but not enough to piss myself and be an idiot.
yeah this is certainly a change. Is it because Goodwin never comes out anymore?
it's a Dutch beer. Session beer, I get it for 5.99 for a sixpack of tallboys at TJs
It was not uncommon for me to drink like Cuseterp if I was watching college basketball, or a couple of football games back to back. The last 6 months I have really been taking it easy though. (not nearly as fun of course)
Now if I have more than about 3 beers I get really bad stomach pain the next day. I think I have an ulcer, gotta get it checked out.
If I feel like I'm starting to get sick I'll have a couple drinks to fight off the sickness. About 80% of the time I don't end up getting sick. If I am sick already and I have a drink I feel terrible the next day and the sickness seems to last longer.
Cheers. Pretty solid description of my situaish. Sometimes I do drink a lot, but it's probably been 5 or so years since I got the, "You should have seen you last night!", spiel while having no clue what anyone was talking about. At times I may drink in excess of societal norms, but that's just because the norms are lightweights. I probably have a drink (at least one) 4 or 5 nights out of a week....I could go without if I had to, but I don't see the fun in that. Not that I need booze to have fun, but it certainly has never hurt.
Im ready for aa 5th of vodica to end my feels.
Ditto. Maybe I'm just becoming an OWG, but I definitely agree with the above poster who said that the cons of getting hammered are starting to outweigh the pros.
Ha! I think my first year living in NY I drank enough for an entire lifetime. Since then I've slowed down significantly. Still down for shenanigans though, just not quite as often.
I'm weird in that I either don't get hungover at all, or I'm completely useless for the next few days, and the line is not easily distinguishable. If I drink my normal amount, I'm always fine the next day, but then if I drink just a few more there will be days where I'm complete garbage or I feel completely fine. It doesn't even depend on what I drink, although if I drink beer and hard liquor, it increases the chances of me feeling like crap.
I have friends in their 30s who can't have more than five beers over a couple hours without having serious hangover issues. I feel really badly for them. Other people I know love wine, but get really bad hangovers from it. Terrible.
I don't think I could date somebody who didn't drink at least socially. I limit my drinking to Thursday-Sunday Funday now that I'm back in Michigan, but I still find myself in occasional shenanigans just to keep myself honest.
Detroit Hustles Harder
Im going to give up drinking this year. Costs too much for very little marginal benefit.
A little over 4,834 days, 16 hours, and 54 minutes. But who's counting
I would have thought the same thing, but it's not too bad. I met her at a bar, our first couple dates wound up at bars, and she'll have a glass of wine or a margarita or two, so it's not like she's a militant teetotaler, she just doesn't drink a lot socially and is usually in bed by 11. She's cool about me being a social drinker, going out until all hours of the night, and really only doesn't like me getting stupid drunk, which I'm fine with.
I'd def rather have this type of relationship based on mutual respect than a clingy insecure broad who needs to go out with you and your friends every night or gets all shitfaced and dramatic. Obviously there are chicks who can drink and hold it together, those get rarer as you get older.
This thread is making me thirsty.
Yeah, my last g/f was the shitfaced/dramatic type and that shit got old quickly. Seems like you have a keeper.
I'm still dry, but that will end tonight, or with a mini binge tomorrow night. No kids this weekend either, with lots of football on tv, so no way I make it through the weekend.
I am also dating a woman who does not drink very much. She doesn't care if I drink, and is always willing to be the DD (but I hate the way she drives).
i will go one day without a drink, usually after a weekend of debauchery. two days is rare, though.
