I have to admit I'm with colfax on that one though...I much prefer a great steak off the grill (although that's possibly because I mainly eat steak only at the beach when we're grilling it, so maybe I subconsciously think it tastes better given everything else that's going on).
we know that his follow up comment meant what you said it did. but really, stro and i think his initial post was referring to the fact that he seared and broiled the steak.
Pan seering keeps more of the flavor in, so technically he did it the right way! Heroically!
