My issue with Community is that it took the turn for the strange this season, while the past two seasons were consistently funny and clever.
Don't get me wrong, I still love Community; it's a fantastic show. But with Chang going off the deep end the weird dynamic that John Goodman's character brings, it just seems to me that they are trying too hard with some of the story lines.
Community is too smart for it's own good sometimes but I can't hate a show trying to break a lot of the sitcom stereotypes that even great shows re-use. Of those three, I hope P&R comes back for more.
I finally started watching Archer. Wow. I really missed out due to my anti-cartoon bias.
I agree. When they hit it out of the park like with the documentary episode and the Law and Order episode, it's amazing television. When it's just a good episode, it just seems weird for the sake of being weird.
A sincere "thank you" to everyone who watched the #ParksandRec finale last night. Here's a much longer director's cut: http://bit.ly/IO6VRU
John Goodman was worth it for the scene in the "room temperature" room alone.
Chang's always been the worst/weakest part of the show. After the first season he didn't really belong anymore, but he's a name and everyone seems to like Ken Jeong so they keep him around.
And Grove, you're right. I generally don't like cartoons but a buddy badgered me into watching Archer and it's great.
I love Community because it's so different, and because it's too weird and too smart. It just hits me perfectly, even when it's not particularly funny.
"Clear alcohols are for rich women on diets."
First of all, you did the right thing hiding under the table.
"And I try to har-mo-nize with songs the lonesome sparrow sings...
There are no kings inside the Gates of Eden."
Don't want to ruin it, but Ron has another good bar-related scene/line in the director's cut.
Well, I mean, that’s what it is. I doodoo and then listen to Katy Perry.
interesting Community episode.
The first Community is AWESOME.
i thought all 3 were great, second was probably my favorite with the Oceans 11 stuff
1st community was so good it hurt.
my dvr cut off on the last one where Abed is getting into the small dreamatorium. what happened after that?
All 3 were amazing. I was dieing when that guy was explaining the rules of the air conditioning challenge.
Leonard reviewed "Lets potato chips"
and his roommate Vernon Davis makes an appearance
Dan Harmon officially out as Community boss, now just "consulting producer"
Replaced by 2 guys from Happy Ending (also work with Russo Brothers).
Air Conditioning Priest: "Gentlemen...take this man to the Infinite Labyrinth of Eternal Ice."
Troy: "No! No! Take him to the police. He murdered someone. Take him to jail. You guys are weird."
Excellent 3 episodes of Community.
And no mention of Gus Fring getting the 8-bit love as Pierce's half-brother?
That was hilarious.
I got the shotgun. You got the briefcase. It's all in the game though, right?
it's gonna be so sad if they continue Community for 3 years and turn it into what the Office has become because Dan Harmon isn't around to stop them
Community being moved to Friday night with Whitney is pretty much its death knell. Doubt it will last past the 13 ordered episodes.
Read my writings to nobody in general:
I´m just assuming that Community lasted for 3 awesome years.
Kind of unrelated but Warren Littlefield on Howard Stern today talking about Must See Thursday Night TV, he created it. Really Fascinating stories about Cosby/Cheers/Friends/Seinfeld etc etc. Too bad that is all over with.
He was on the Adam Carolla podcast a week or so ago as well. It was really interesting, I might have to get his book.
Moving to Friday night might save it. Having Whitney as a lead in might kill it.
