So now I have to wait an extra two days to get my check in the mail. Crap.
Direct deposit like everyone else?
This just means another day where I don't get junk mail and healthcare bill summaries, so totally cool with it.
The 2 billion in projected savings is just a small dent. USPS is going to need to do more than that.
It's a step in the right direction though. Closing the offices on Saturday too?
And who the hell gets paid by check anymore?
It's a good start, though.
Probably people who use check-cashing stores, pawn shops and gold-buying places.
It's going to be a little harder on eBay buyers and (especially) sellers.
edit - on review, it looks like it doesn't affect package delivery (or pickup?)

What ever am I going to do???
Honestly, I'd be okay with mail service M - W - F. I check the mail maybe once a week as it is, and my mailman hates me for it. if you are expecting something important on a non-mail delivery date, you can call the post office/go online to see if it is there. If so, go and pick it up or wait a day until they deliver it.
for some reason the doorman (who only works on saturday) loves announcing that mail has been delivered. I could give a rats ass to see the coupon book and other junk. The poor guy will need some other reason to feel useful
i suppose I need to read more about the USPS to get better understanding but I just don't see how they can lose money
Maybe because they charge like 40 cents to deliver something across the country?
i can't remember the last time i got a relevant piece of mail. maybe the rewards check i got from chase 3 years ago because they couldn't just credit my CC.
im sorry i was confusing...your "Superbowl" was the Redskins losing since you know that the Ravens cant win it all.
Not really...they can just ship Fedex or UPS.
This will eventually happen.
Go away, KA!
I hope it does and the result is that it (a) makes me look like less of a dick for never sending greeting cards and (b) completely kills the greeting card industry with their $5 greeting cards that are less funny than anything on r/funny and people glance at once and then throw away.
Alternate mail delivery... Monday Wednesday Friday even ZIP Code: Tuesday Thursday Saturday odd zip code. Post office hours 10-8 and all day Saturday. It is a retail operation and should be open when people can get there not 9-4 and 9-11 on Sat. Proposed this in grad school 10 years ago.
you don't know half of what goes on here
Know the best solution if you're losing business to other companies? Make your service less desirable.
Their pension load is killing them.
My daughter gets her dividend check from Disney every year, and I'm waiting on my escrow refund check from refinancing, that's about it for us.
I BELIEVE IN THE UNITED STATES
I'm for this but they should have cut out like Wednesday instead.
It's already been stated, but who the hell doesn't have direct deposit?
this. it makes no sense other than the fact that they are a gov't bureaucracy. why cut out the day that borders the other day that you can't get mail?
