And I have to admit I've never had Lobster Bisque...sorry
Crab in general is absurdly overrated by this board/MD in general.
Yeah, Maryland is in a weird, Twilight zone style alternate universe where everyone believes crabs are superior to lobster.
[typical] (something great) is overrated [/messageboarder]
I prefer crab to lobster, but that's just because I don't really like lobster. I don't think crab is the GOAT food like many people here act like it is.
Lobster is one of the most overrated foods out there
Well, crab only tastes better.
Lobster is the Dre Beats of seafood. Just make it really expensive and people will buy into the hype!
I've got CoC up 18-14 right now.
I'll make that 19-14.
"And I try to har-mo-nize with songs the lonesome sparrow sings...
There are no kings inside the Gates of Eden."
***cream of crab***
This isnt home field advantage. Md crab soup is usually subpar. Coc is the best soup. No other arguments necessary.

LOL at the notion that lobster is more expensive than crab.
Huh? You can take the exact same recipe and add lobster and it's LB, add crab, it's COC
I don't think that's right. A bisque will generally have paprika or curry or cayenne. Cream of crab generally has none of those spices.
I hate picking crabs and the effort that goes into it. I apologize my Maryland brethren, but I am lazy, buffalo chicken, America.
yeah, you have no idea what you are talking about. completely different spices.
some recipes do, what do you think is in cream of crab though, old bay right?
not just the seasoning...but also the brandy/cognac makes a big difference
i actually like crab more than lobster but i like LB better than coc soup
Maybe I need more exposure to both soups, but I haven't had a bisque that resembled a CoC (or vice versa). CoCs have all been much thicker, for one. Also, isn't tomato (paste?) fairly intrinsic to bisque. Never tried CoC with tomato or, at least, it was hidden well if it did have it.
Im ready for aa 5th of vodica to end my feels.
Its sherry and typically sherry is used in both
I'm fairly certain most cream of crab recipes do not call for Old Bay to be put in the soup. I have seen places that put it on top, however, these places usually suck.
i use cognac....its much better
but either way i have never im my life tasted an alcohol in coc soup...and id have to think long and hard to remember a time i didnt taste it in a bisque...not saying it isnt in recipes for coc but i never get a hint of it
agree with jj as well...coc is always a lot thicker...and often disgustingly so
whatever reasons you wanna list the base of a LB and a coc are not that much alike much less interchangable
What do they call for then?
My point was merely that bisque means "cream soup." I'm not going to get bogged down in what a perfect LB or COC has or has not. Hell I just learned many/most LB have tomato paste, never noticed that.
I like a little bit of Franks Red Hot in my CoC
everyone else is saying "cock" in their heads, right?
