I caught YARN at the Purple Fiddle this spring and had a good time. Stayed in the hostel which is dog friendly and eliminated the risk of a DUI.
Stones at Barclays Center Dec 13-15, has to be a full blown world tour coming up. If NHL stays locked out plenty of free arena nights.
I saw Pigeons Playing Ping Pong in WV last weekend. Last time I saw them was at Art Attack my freshman year('08) when they were students too, and had a great time seeing them again.
I know those guys. It's pretty insane how big they're getting so quickly. I remember seeing them at a random house party a bunch of years ago on Metzerott. They're constantly in residence at the 8x10 and they're doing the halloween show and NYE shows there too.
It's pretty exciting to see them grow and get more success.
I just embarrassed myself with this post
Another very good UMD band that is enjoying some success right now is Yellow Dubmarine. I'm gonna be at the 8x10 next weekend after the football game to watch them.
Man or Astro-Man?
I got into this band in 97 after the lead guitar player, and sole of the band, left. He was replaced and the band continued on until they called it quits sometime after 2000. I saw them a couple times in the post 97 era but always regretted not catching the original lineup.
This almost never happens but 12 years after they called it quits they reformed, with the original lineup and picked up where they left off. If you like instrumental surf there is probably something in this band for you. Here's a crappy vid I took last Saturday while I erased 12 years of regrets after missing them the 1st time around.
Man or Astro-Man? Live at Ziggys in Winston Salem NC. 11/03/12

Picked up two Sunday during the pre-sale to take my daughter to see Taylor Swift next May at Verizon. The StubHub prices are comical.
Anyone go to Knoffler/Dylan last night/
So we have a stud lineup for Sandy Relief tomorrow night and $44 Stones PPV with Springsteen and Black Keys on Saturday. I think I'm going to spring for the PPV, my buddy went to Barclay's Center last Saturday and said it was solid, but not great, show.

Going on ter with DMB this week: both nights in Charlottesville->Baltimore. 18-year old Bro raisinsnacks is pumped. 25-year old raisinsnacks expects a complete emotionmorphosis into an OWG.
Gonna rock out with my caulk out tonight and tomorrow. Ladies from the 80's and their bad tottos for everyone.
saw Tedeschi Trucks band at 930 club on Weds. They were incredible. Highly recommend.
I can't believe I missed it. Really want to see them.
Anyone else going to see McCartney in DC? It will be my first time. I typically hate stadium shows, and I'm not expecting a life changing moment, or anything different than the greatest hits set I see at every benefit appearance, but there is no way I'd ever forgive myself if he retired or died or whatever, and I had never seen him.
Grabbed a lawn ticket for the Dylan/Wilco/MMJ concert at Merriweather. I haven't seen Dylan before but I've heard he can be pretty sucktacular these days. Although i have a buddy who loves him. Really I'm interested in the other two especially MMJ who I've seen at Merriweather before and really enjoyed.
My sister copped me a ticket to Dylan/Wilco/MMJ in Hoboken. I've seen MMJ live like 20 times or so. Easily the best live band in the world. Get as close to the stage as you can. Hopefully they get more than 45 minutes. I actually don't have much interest in seeing Wilco or sitting around while Dylan mumbles for an hour.
It can be brutal at times....he's old, shit happens, can't blame him for it. It's a good thing there's two other acts for you to see.
I used to work at Merriweather, but don't anymore. One of my coworkers has a story from like 8 or 10 years ago I guess from a Bob Dylan concert, he was working a side stage access door where you can only let people with certain passes in. But like clockwork, Bob Dylan would play two songs, walk off stage and through that door where my friend was working. He'd close it, say "Hey" every single time- nothing more, nothing less- then light up a Marlboro Red. Every two songs, no matter what, that exact routine would happen.
"Maryland football: Where everybody gets hurt and the starting left tackle has an existential crisis."
Have tickets to see Brad Paisley, Lee Bryce, and Chris Young in June at Jiffy Lube. Also going to JT/Jay-Z at M&T in August.
Dylan's mid 60's to mid 70's stuff was so damn good. If he can even remotely touch on that era it should be worth sitting through.
I'm seeing this tour, although Bob Weir is also joining.
This will be my 6th time seeing MMJ who has quickly shot past all bands except Phish for me. I'm so into this band now. They really kill it every time I see them.
Not sure what I'm going to do during Wilco other than stand completely still and stare at them like their fanbase does.
I enjoyed Dylan in 95 when he opened for the Grateful Dead, but I kinda doubt he puts on a decent show any more.
I've heard they're rotating the headliner, so I suspect all will get equal times.
Got seats for Dyland/Wilco/MMJ in Philly on July 28 and then seeing Beck in Brooklyn the following Sunday. 30th Birthday week looking stellar.
"The drummer for Maryland's pep band just freaked out: 'They're trying to slow the game down,' he screamed. 'Get up on them, get up on them.
