last night at the Dave show, got a drumstick by Carter, third one I've caught(/picked up off the ground in a mad scramble) but this time it was one of the ones that was well used, the other two were extras he had a stagehend toss to him to throw out into the crowd. Poor quality, but you get the picture
I think I would pay the 3-day access ticket price for Firefly just to see Jack White.
anyone going to delfest this weekend?
I wish! I am going to see Yonder Mountain in Baltimore this summer though.
oh crap didn't even realize theyre gonna be in town!
Counting down the days to Phish at Bader Field (AC) and Portsmouth, VA. Five shows in six days for me :warface
Never been to a Phish show, is the parking lot scene pretty much a carryover from the post-'87 Dead shows? Dogs, kids, balloons, rancid grilled cheese, shirts, etc.
Yeah, pretty much...the dog and kid population is usually minimal (although growing, since the fans are getting older, like the Dead fans did). And the food tends to be a bit better, due to the health/organic food trends.
Great setlist last night....though they sort of limped home. Would've enjoyed hearing Everything In It's Right Place.
Meeting in the Aisle
The National Anthem
Morning Mr. Magpie
Go to Sleep
You and Whose Army?
Give Up the Ghost
Im ready for aa 5th of vodica to end my feels.
Volunteered at the Appel Farm Arts and Music Festival in Elmer, NJ, this past weekend, and got to see Dawes and Tedeschi-Trucks Band, as well as bits of Carolina Chocolate Drops, Sara Watkins, and Jukebox the Ghost.
Dawes was a lot better than I expected them to be, and really knew how to own the stage. Tedeschi-Trucks was just a powerhouse. I mean just insane musical ability showing off for 2 hours. Seeing Derek Trucks play is an absolute joy.
"The drummer for Maryland's pep band just freaked out: 'They're trying to slow the game down,' he screamed. 'Get up on them, get up on them.
I saw Derek Trucks open up for Santana a few years ago in Columbia. I was in the front row.... leaning on the stage. He is nothing short of amazing. Probably my favorite concert of all time - two guitar greats in Trucks and Satana. Awesome concert!
Same when he played with Clapton, just an amazing player.
Last time I was on Bader Field it was in a 6 seat airplane. I'll be calling you en route Saturday for some recon intel. Curious as to how/where we are going to tailgate, but very much looking fwd to this day.
George Clinton will be on the mall tonight. I'd suggest anyone in the area should go. He puts on a hell of a show.
I saw Derek Trucks at Lewie's in Bethesda (tiny little bar that is now defunct). He was 17 at the time and he blew the room away. I still have the pack of Marlboro Lights I had him sign.
Still getting over a sick night at Bader Field for the Phish show. This band is playing better than ever right now.
July 5th...Chris Robinson's band at the Birchmere.
Bumpity bump for Firefly Festival this weekend in Dover. Passion Pit cancelled but it's still going to be awesome.
Who else is going? Are people camping or staying at one of dover's fine hotel accommodations?

Did you make it to the Yonder show? It was ridiculous. 2 awesome sets with the show ending at 12:45. Some great Dead covers too: Althea & Fire on the Mountain (supposedly only the 3rd time they've played FOTM). Just like the Fillmore I think they wanted to put on a killer show since it was their first time at a new venue (Sound Stage).
Yea I did, and they were great. Was nice seeing them at a smaller venue, even though it was crazy crowded. I left a little early (slowly turning into an old man) so I missed Boatman and Fire on the Mountain. Great show though.
Here's a recording of the Yonder Show in Baltimore:
On another note, I was out in Lyons, Colorado yesterday, and saw a flyer for this festival:
http://www.bluegrass.com/rockygrass/lineup.html SICK lineup. would love to go. Lyons is a real cool town BTW
Hot Chip Sunday!
I just embarrassed myself with this post
Thanks for the links. That does look like an awesome festival. Hope you got a chance to check out Oskar Blues brewery when you were in Lyons. I've never been to Lyons but I've heard it is a cool place from a pro triathlete that lives there.
Ha, actually the only thing we checked out was the Oskar Blues brewery. Had some time to kill on drive from Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park to the Airport, saw the brewery and yelled STOP. Awesome place. Dale's mom greeted us at the door.
Floydfest starts Thursday, anyone in? I'm looking forward to the Yarn show at the Beer Garden Stage on Sunday.

I didn't end up taking any videos, sorry Fox. Cell service was jammed most of every day on the grounds, so any time I did anything with my phone I lost about 20% of the battery, and it was dead every day by like 9pm.
Due to the overlap between stages, I ended up seeing:
Matt Costa (half set)
OK GO (a couple songs)
Walk the Moon
John Legend (a couple songs)
Silversun Pickups (about half their set)
Young the Giant
The Head and the Heart
Awolnation (half set)
Bombay Bicycle Club (half set)
Cold War Kids
Flaming Lips (about half their set)
Girltalk (2 songs maybe)
Best acts I saw were Mayer Hawthorne and Walk the Moon. Cake and Modest Mouse were best of day 2, though I'd already seen Grouplove and Young the Giant, and fairly recently, so I knew what I was getting there. Day 3 highlights were CWK and Death Cab probably, Flaming Lips were cool but were on the other side of the grounds from the Black Keys stage, so we had to leave a little early.
I'm kind of over the Black Keys at this point. I've been going to their shows since like 2005 and always had a ton of fun, but recently I have seen them in March at Verizon, May at Merriweather, and now this. They played the EXACT same set for all three shows. They are kind of mailing it in at this point, which, good for them they are big enough to do that, but it makes for a shitty live show. (end rant)
This is tonight, gonna be fucking awesome.
