I'm not a cop hater and I usually get a lot of crap here for defending cops in certain stories that end up as threads here.
The cops absolutely should have shot him when he turned and pulled his gun out. I don't think there are many people who don't think the cops had the right to use lethal force in that situation. The problem is that their shooting skills are apparently not very good. If they can't take down a suspect 10 feet away without shooting 3 bystanders with direct shots, perhaps they aren't in the right line of work. I'm not saying I could do it any better and I'm not saying that every other police officer on the force would have performed equally as bad, but these two guys could have easily killed 3 innocent people which is worse than the criminal they were after.
agree with you. who knows what kind of training NYPD gets with the amount of officers they have. I bet they only go 1/2 times a year and that's not combat/tactical shooting. would love to see a CSI report (like onTV) where they show where all the rounds went and where citizens were.
