We wanted to head up to Roundtop today but the brutal winds kept us away. I can deal with cold but the wind would just make it intolerable. That and Mr. Julester has a kidney stone and is in a good deal of pain waiting for it to pass. He was still going to ski so as to not disappoint the kids, however. The wind was his out. LOL
Maybe we'll try for Friday if any of this snow pans out.
Wisp and Seven Springs both have one of those reeally long wraparound greens. I find those entertaining for some reason. It's like sightseeing and skiing at the same time.
yeah acres are important. Wisp and 7springs have a similar number of "trails" but 7springs has double the acreage. Also unless Wisp has upgraded, they have slowpoke lifts.
Fair enough re: acreage. The average Wintergreen run takes about two minutes. Wisp's powder is better, trails are better and longer, basically everything about it is better. And I have skied Wintergreen probably 100 times (it was our high school ski and snowboard club's ski resort). I've been to Wisp twice and I don't think the two are even in the same ballpark.
Heading to Wisp this weekend. Buddy of mine has a house there and I've surprisingly never been so looking forward to a cheap trip even if it's not the biggest/greatest resort. Can anybody from up that way report on the weather from last night and possible snow coming this weekend? Hoping for some decent conditions, i'm sure man made snow won't be a problem.
Been cold and snowy all week
Found a pretty good site for forecasts, by region, state and resort:
Wisp is expecting 10 inches between tomorrow afternoon thru Saturday evening. Heading up Saturday afternoon after my daughter's basketball game.
Be safe. I'm heading up Monday. New restaurant coming this spring to Will o the Wisp.
Likely going to Seven Springs this weekend. First time of the year. Pretty pumped.
Heading to Okemo and Killington on Thursday. The weather models are predicting 6-12" of snow Friday into Saturday....hope they're right!
Headed to Wisp Thursday. Anyone know if they carry DC or Bmore channels in Western MD? Need to be able to watch the Terps-VT game
Nope, I live right by the golf course. All the local channels are pittsburgh.
Just go to Unos. They should have the game.
Yes, year round, and I could walk 2-3 minutes and be home from the bottom golf course.
I had to watch the Wake and FSU games on ESPN3

I have a house in the Gleanings down Sang Run. Have you tried Uno's ever? That used to be our go to place. They had/have DirecTv with the extended commercial sports package. Maybe Black Bear as well.
I live on Hoyes Run maybe a mile past the course. I grew up here so I've been to all the local bars/restaurants, but if it's not on TV I usually just watch online at home.
Edit: You've probably been to the Brew Pub then, that place is the tits.
Is there a figurative interpretation for living right by the golf course?
Headed to 7springs this weekend through wednesday. I'm Pretty cised! Any good bars for weeknight drinking?
Are you staying at the resort? There are two or three bars there, nothing special but they fill up.
Headed to Denver for a bachelor party. We have a choice between Keystone and Breckenridge: what say the Suque? Terrain difficulty really doesn't matter, as none of us is expert.
I'm not going to be in any condition to drive by 9. I guess espn3 in the hot tub will have to do
I enjoyed Breck. It's a well groomed mountain, if that's the type of terrain you like. There's a lot of nice cruising blues, and it's also a much more fun town. It's probably going to be a little more crowded than Keystone, but more terrain available. Head to the Gold Pan afterwards...the Breck Brewery is right downtown too and they also have their own distillery in town if you want to go on a liquor tasting adventure.
