One of my guy friends is now facing a separation/divorce. He needs to see an attorney as soon as possible because there is signficant property, income, and child issues at stake. I have every reason to believe it's not going to be an easy negotiation and it's going to take some time. He needs someone very skilled at protecting assets and ready to litigate, if it come to that. He also needs someone that can handle a child custody dispute because I suspect that's going to happen as well. It's not a contested divorce.. and there are no grounds.. no adultery.. and they have actually been separated (without a legal separation agreement) for quite some time. So, this is all about child support, alimony, property and other assets.
I figured since this is a male-dominated environment, some of you would know some attorneys that you would either definitely recommend or tell him to steer clear of altogether. He lives in Howard County, so it is definitely beneficial to get a recommendation for someone closer to where he lives.

I have 2 friends (female) going throught this and they both use this firm: http://www.wsfamilylaw.com/
I don't recall that girl in any of the 30 GVPT classes I "attended" at Maryland during those years, but I approve.
Tracey L. Perrick: Ms. Perrick received her Bachelor's Degree in Government and Politics, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Maryland College Park in May 2003.
Actually, I approve of most of the lawyers at that firm.
I went to law school with Jolie. I would imagine she would do a good job with your friend based on what I have heard. I've seen her a few times since but never in the courtroom. Most of the folks I would recommend are in the Annapolis/ upper marlboro/Glen Burnie area. I do know 1 that does a very nice job with an office in laurel if that's close.
A Terp and neighbor

Better call Saul.

Well just looking at his commercial I would think that J. Michael Gallagher
would be great...
Ahh, holiday tension is the personal Santa for family lawyers!
Divorce seems like way too much work to be worth it. Then again I'm also incredibly lazy.
LOL my husband and I say this all the time. It's also incredibly expensive and we are incredibly cheap so we're stuck with each other.
i just accidentally downvoted eagles. :( i don't up or down vote anyone.. i just accidentally clicked it. sorry, dude.
julester.. he liked your link. he said that looking at them may soften the blow of how much this is going to cost him.
oh, speaking of divorcing friends.. i heard someone's soon-to-be-ex went apeshit nuts over my fb post last week. it's always fun to annoy someone you don't know without trying.
Tell him NOT ONE DIME
im sorry i was confusing...your "Superbowl" was the Redskins losing since you know that the Ravens cant win it all.
It's expensive because its sooooo worth it
Not a jack ass. I am a 4 star poster on RCMB - spartanfan48413
Few things are more work than being stuck in a bad marriage.
Glad he liked the look of the firm. And double LOL on the other thing. I wonder who told her about it?
And someone has owed me a call for days!
Is Hiram Katz available?
THM, don't urinate on my leg and tell me it's raining
Doesn't have to be expensive unless you have millions on the line or an extensive custody battle. Not sure in MD, but in VA the child support is done by formula so there's no arguing over that. If you can be sane about property division it's not that bad. When I went through mine, I spent well under $10k, and my ex spent more than twice as much as she kept re-writing the drafts of the separation agreement (she's an attorney). Finally my lawyer got fed up and sent a final draft with our terms and said take it or we'll see you in court. I think her lawyer talked her into being sensible.
i know these guys real well, and they are mostly Terps who specialize in family law, and make the Washingtonian's list of top divorce lawyers. I play golf w/ two divorce lawyers who go up against them often, and have a great deal of respect for them.

Because I like you guys, I'm going to let you in on a secret. Please don't tell anyone, especially Rick jaclitsch that I gave this info away. You know those lawyers and Drs that make the "top lists"? It's advertising. Yep, it's paid for. I laugh every time I hear it.
