I'm of the opinion that the Spring Sunday we restart DST should be a national holiday (observed Monday, of course).
EASILY a top 5 day of the year. Probably higher. No more early darkness. Golf after work. No more evening rush hour in the dark.
Is this the unpopular opinions thread?
You lose an hour of sleep.
It is a GREAT day.
One of the best things that GW Bush did was extend DST for a few more weeks. If I was King of the World, the first thing I would do would be to make it DST ALL YEAR ROUND!
Well worth it. Life is so much better when you have daytime after work.
Not looking foward to my 9am (8am?) soccer game Sunday morning 45 minutes away from my house in 30 degree weather. But I haven't kicked a ball around in like 7 years so I'm excited about that part.

That's why the Monday would be the observed national holiday, nubbinz. Easily make up for the night of sleep.
And who gives a flying crap about losing an hour of sleep on a Sunday morning anyway?
US Eastern is the ONE TRUE TIME ZONE. All other time zones should be eliminated. Fuck daylight savings time.
China pretty much does exactly the analog of this. Tibet is in the same time zone as Beijing, so the sun comes up at like 10 AM in the winter.

Yep. AWESOME day.
Yeah they do. It's supposedly especially horrible in the West, Xinjiang.
But there supposedly they have official "Beijing time" and then the real local time that everyone follows anyways. That's China!
My kids already wake up at 6am.
Die in a fire.
You don't "lose" an hour of sleep.
You tell it to fuck off.
There is literally no reason why we don't all operate on the same time, and just adjust our waking hours.
WTF? One of the worst days of the year. It's a 23 hour day! And that hour comes out when you're either sleeping(one of the most amazing activities possible) or doing something fun. Take the hour at like 2pm or some worthless time, wtf.
Where do I need to move to where I can wake up in the early afternoon and go to bed as the sun is rising?
I'm sure it's impossible to just sleep more.
wherever raise lives
What's the current argument against year round DST?
Kids waiting at bus stops in the dark. No kidding, I think that's the reason given during the Carter years when they actually wanted to do it to save electricity.

I try soooo hard to embrace sohlman but its soooo tough.

We'd lose the proposed holiday.
The only hour that matters is that extra hour of daylight, no matter what your doing or how much sleep you got the night before. That jolt of daylight tells you spring is here. And all the beautiful things that come with it. Its a rebirth my friend.
I honestly thought the only people against this day would be people like ravensnterps who just try to be contrarian. It blows my mind that people don't like this day.
Who the F cares which exact hour we technically lose. Just sleep an hour later. Go to bed an hour earlier. The sun no longer setting at or before 6 PM easily offsets any very temporary inconvenience.
Yes it's a 23 hour day day but the hour can come from wherever you want, it's not like you'll cut short a fun activity by an hour. You're also allowed to sleep an hour "later" if you'd like.
I got the shotgun. You got the briefcase. It's all in the game though, right?
This is such a self-imposed bullshit perspective. Global time cures this ill.
