Traffic through that stretch varies widely. How important is the 615 arrival? And is 295 worse? That's "quicker" from a mileage standpoint coming from Arlington

295 is usually worse IMO. Especially in that 3-5 or 3-6 timeframe. I don't use it all that frequently though.
You're basically at the mercy of random luck. If things go well you make it in 75-ish minutes. But like one accident or 2-3 cops pulling some people over and it suddenly takes 2+ hours.

Had the dream again last night where I'm in college and finals are coming up and there's a class I forgot to attend all semester. This time it was an English lit class and Dez Wells was in it too.
my history with 295 is bad enough that I avoid it at all costs. We've had a few rough break-ups in the past, but I won't use it against you if you go ahead with it. There will be a backup at 10 AM on a Sunday or 10 PM on a Friday and it just bottles the mind

"Maryland football: Where everybody gets hurt and the starting left tackle has an existential crisis."
I need to be in the building at 6:15. Leaving a conference to get to a class.
295 is absolutely the worst, but from Arlington it's tough becuase 66 to 495 is so far out of the way.
The problem is it's only 2 lanes, so the slightest problem completely screws everything up.
Did something happen in the Cruise Ship lobby or something where the media has decided to go after every Cruise mishap now? Or are people just generally that interested in any problem on a cruise ship so the media has decided to devote that much time to Big Cruise Ship?
"It's just so hard," Greivis said. "It's my heart, my love. Maryland made me who I am."
The latest one was minor but left out of Baltimore which is why I thought it was newsworthy here.
Depending on where you are coming from for your conference and traffic, you could always cross the Key Bridge, cut through the city on Foxhall/Nebraska, and roll up either 355 or Conn. Ave/Georgia Ave and take the ICC over to 95. That cuts out 270, 295, and 495, which could all be faster, but also could take you 3 hours. 355 might be a bit rough at times, but at least it usually moves.
Another option is to take 395 into the city, cut up North Capitol to Route 1 and then go from there, but I don't know how that looks at 4:30 PM (probably awful).
Check traffic before you leave and plan accordingly. I'd leave 2.5 hours to be safe.
Ignore that. 355 is an awful suggestion. The stretch between downtown Bethesda and Cedar Lane alone could take 1/2 hour in the afternoon. Avoid at all costs.
270 is fine most afternoons unless you're headed north of Germantown. Taking that to the ICC isn't bad, but there's usually a decent backup getting to the exit for 370.

Im ready for aa 5th of vodica to end my feels.
lol at suggesting someone drive the length of 355 through Rockville during rush hour
LOL, sure 355 is bad, but the spur could be just as bad, as could 270N. Check your options and make a smart decision.
Also, 66W in VA is HOV-2 only from 4 - 6:30 and will probably be awful just before that, so I wouldn't recommend leaving Arlington that way. GW Parkway maybe, if you want to get to 495, but that's also risky.
Point is, leave plenty of time.
It got coverage in Philly, where they almost never cover anything below the Mason-Dixon line.
it took me 2.5 hours to get from adams morgan to towson once during rush hour. so that's not an unreasonable amount of time to leave.
According to Jeff, CHAD is coming soon!

View at your own risk. They blur out the actual gore, but you do see the accident.
A woman was riding an elevator in Shenzhen on May 15, 2013 when she got pinched between the doors. And then, the unthinkable... http://beijingcream.com/2013/05/video-of-woman-cut-in-half-by-elevator-is-harrowing/
I don't know what you mean, but it had the cadence of a joke.
Fixed to keep in tune with current threads.
I was listening to some stuff on Youtube yesterday and thought of you. They sound so fucking good.
i don't get exactly what happened, why was the elevator door open?
It's China. Everything happens randomly there, accounting for thousands of you tube videos.
Raise, I think you're on to something. The nightly news of CBS and NBC both did stories on how terrible cruise ships are. Granted, there have been some pretty bad cruise screw ups of late, but some of these ones that get coverage seem relatively minor. Like on this royal carribean one this weekend there was a fire that was put out after a few hours, no one was hurt, and everyone got a refund or a coupon for a future cruise. Not exactly a national tragedy, something like that could happen any where you go on vacation or live peacefully in Pittsburgh. I wonder what the cruise liners did that the lamestream media is after them.
