End of Watch would have been 1000x better if it was not shot like the Blair Witch Project. I thought that aspect did nothing for the movie. But all-in-all I thought it was pretty good.
I usually hate that style, too, but I didn't find it as distracting in End of Watch as it was in Blair Witch or Cloverfield.
Rewatching 'Lord of the Rings'. I have to say, Peter Jackson did a pretty phenomenal job. There are plenty of things you could take issue with (omissions, adding extra dialogue, messing with the order of events, etc) but to take those 3 dense books and turn them into good, coherent movies was quite a feat.
Had to turn that one off. Turrible
Watched Hunger Games and Cabin in the Woods this weekend.
Hunger Games was alright but didn't come close to living up to the hype.
Cabin in the Woods was weird as shit. Surprised so many people (judging by rotten tomatoes) liked it
Dredd was much, much better than I expected. Not high art or anything, but a notch above most mindless shoot em ups.
I've been laying around the past couple of weeks from ankle surgery.
Pitch Perfect was very good.
Flight was great and the Nadine Velazquez opening scene is HOF worthy.
House at the End of the street - eh
Seven Psychopaths - decent
Premium Rush - decent
Will be watching Taken 2 sometime this week.
Saw Taken 2 last night. Pretty much what you'd expect, the same movie all over again. If you go in with that mindset it's still an enjoyable action flick, but the first one was definitely better.
Watched Pitch Perfect based on the reviews here. It was really really good. Although I have a hard time believing that the girl group could have ever made it to the finals with their original crappy song selection.
(Not a spoiler, happens in the very first scene)

Girlfriend made me watch it. It reminded us of "This is 40", which is actually worse.
When 5YE was over, I literally got a sympathy bj for having sat through it.

'Chronicle' - cool idea. awful acting. mediocre action. meh
Mentioned this movie in another thread, but I'll repeat it here. I watched the 5 hour version of Carlos which is available on Netflix instant streaming. It's about the terrorist Carlos "the Jackal". Undoubtedly, one of the greatest movies I've ever seen. Over 5 hours long and not a dull scene in the film. I can't recommend it enough.

I guess I'm on a 1970's terrorist kick lately. Watched The Baader-Meinhof Complex last night. Fantastic film about the RAF terrorist group in 1970's West Germany. Great acting and just an amazing story. When watching it, I found myself amazed that it was a true story. Highly recommend this one.
I watched Carlos over the wknd, I liked it. Also recently I watched..
Taken 2 - not as good as the first one by entertaining
Compliance on Netflix - pretty good
The Raven on Netflix - eh
Waiting for End of Watch and Argo (if it ever will) to come out on Redbox
From my last flights...
Seven Psychopaths - thought it was pretty good...Sam Rockwell is great at playing crazy, Walken was great, Farrell playing the drunk Irish was easy but good, and lastly Woody Harrelson was great
Killing them Softly - I give it a C...it was very meh...I really wanted to like it, but something was missing
Wreck it Ralph - maybe because I am old, I really liked it...pretty good story and pretty funny...
The Master - I really like Paul Thomas Anderson, but this movie was a WTF to me...I thought Joaquin was brilliant, but not sure whether it mattered or not
Jackie Robinson isn't dirty. This isn't Pack Pride.
I thought Flight had an excellent opening it otherwise was kind of boring as shit. Yeah, Denzel was great but I kind of wanted more than just that.
Flight is going to affect me for a while, like I wanted to live in a bubble after Contagion. You know that pilots probably are hungover sometimes when they fly, but you don't want to know it.
It was slow at times but I thought it was well acted by Denzel and the other main players.
I saw Argo last night via my son's Apple TV. Pretty good historical account overall. The acting was very good; well, Affleck was okay (shocker, I know), but overall it captured the time period very well. I was in college during that time, and vaguely remember the 6 americans holding out in the Canadian embassy and being rescued. Amazing story on how it was done. The opening sequence where the Iranian students take over the embassy is well done. It's funny, even though you know the outcome, the last 30 minutes to me was riveting, and I was on the edge of my seat watching how close it was to them being captured. I wonder how true this was where the Revolutionary guard were actually chasing the plane on the tarmac while it was taking off. I would recommend it.
Yeah the tarmac chase on the Tarmac was completely fictional. It works for the movie though.

Wanderlust with Rudd and Anniston last night on HBO.... Simply horrific. Some boobies and peckers and some older running shaved beaver but it was a terrible movie
Really liked Argo even though they evidently played fast and loose with history at points. The tarmac chase mentioned was a fabrication, and the Canadians were much more involved in the planning and execution of the operation than it would appear from the movie.
From what I understand everything went pretty damn smoothly with the whole operation. It's still a great story, but cinematic liberties probably needed to be taken to keep in compelling.
Yeah apparently the movie doesn't give the Canadians as much credit as they are due.
Thought it was very good, but not quite Best Picture good.
Go away, KA!
Downloading Argo for my flight to Austin now, will report back.
